LoL, that program should be called Sex Boat. I have a few friends who went on it. Heard it's really fun.

Try some of that Pocari Sweat. It's good. Had it only once, but my roommate's got a box full.

Orion is GOOooooooood. So is Kirin.

Hmmmm I can almost smell the 50 Tai Bi food from here...

Nice place. Mountains just shooting up out of the sea and very dark green. Temps are about 86 and it's sort of humid. Kind of like Florida in the spring.

I'm in dowtown Taipei right now. Sort of reminds me of Pittsburgh. Traffic's not too bad considering I just drove in through morning rush hour... except those scooters will swarm you like a bunch of gnats!

Not much Engrish. Everything is in English and Mandarin. Everyone in the airport and hotel greeted me in English. That right there makes it better than Miami. In Miami, the default language is Spanish.

The hotel room is different. I have a futon for a bed. It's about 8" off the ground. And in my fridge, there's some drink called "Pocari Sweat." Sweat, not Sweet. Doesn't sound too appetizing.

Arg. i am taiwanese and have only been to taiwan 2 times. The weather there is just like the weather in houston.

If you hear something that sounds like ChoH Doh Fu, run away. It means stinky tofu and it reminds me of the air that gets blown out of the sewers!

Do you even know what Loveboat is? It's that thing for post-high school/post-college camp. It's sponsored by the government and you're supposed to become more culturally aware, but honestly, you just get a bunch of free time where people party, drink, club, get laid, etc. Hence sex boat.

yeah my parents do comment all the time on how much taiwan has changed. They left in 1980, and weren't allowed to come back (green card rules) until 96 or 97. Last time I went (before this year of course) was in 2003 during the SARS scare. I got a fever, and I went to our family doctor. Soon as he found out I was having flu symptoms he kicked me out and told me I had to walk to the hospital. During that time if you got sick, you weren't allowed to take public transportation anywhere, so my parents dragged my could-barely-walk ass to the hospital, where they put me in a room with a bunch of coughing people. I basically said to myself, hey if i don't have SARS yet, I sure fvcking do now.

And that was like 2 days before my flight back to the states. That would've been a really, really bad situation.

About the loveboat-Taiwan connection, I had a chance to go 30 years ago but I was MUCH more interested in riding motorcycles in those days. I remember the whole price for the program costing about $600 bucks and took about a month. My youngest brother went and so did my two cousins. But what is funny is that I personally knew about four couples who met their future spouse's on this program. I suspect that the legal drinking age of 18 in Taiwan made this program popular.

I plan to send my two daughter's in this program when they leave middle school and high school...

I had a couple friends who went to this...and they didn't speak of any "naughty" behavior. But then again they all went as part of a huge Christian group so if anything naughty happened they wouldn't speak of it, period. lol.

If I had known about this program i would've wanted to go. $600 for a whole month where I could eat all the yummy food i want and also visit my aunts whom, at the time, would have spoiled me rotten with gifts and clothing and candy and all kinds of neat things a girl would want. kekekeke.

I went a few years ago and I had a chick sneak in my room to spend the night with me in bed the first week I was there. I don't even speak taiwanese or mandarin but it was the most memorable experience I've ever had. All that late night sneaking out, drinking and clubbing got me really sick the second half of the trip during the island tour though. I think at least 80% of the people were coughing.

Here's the KFC in the food court of Taipei 101:

Here's the 7-11 outside of Ultra's office. Many Mr. Brown's were bought here:

Across the street from 7-11, caddy from office.... this building looks out of place downtown:

This is the sign at Barista Coffee. Are they implying that they are competing with Starbucks? Hmm..... Truth be told, there's Starbucks in Taiwan too. Barista is better... and CHEAPER!

Hey baby.... I chocolate you too?

i need to stock up on cigarette lighters, they look neat, cheap, and usually made in china, but breaks easily after repeated use. but it can be a good icebreaker when a hot blond asks you for a light in a club, (make sure the flame output is at the max)

some of the street vendors are nasty.. i remember my last few nights there, the taipei night market... crowded but good..

Hmm... My picture from Mos Burger isn't on my memory card.

I wanted everyone to see the $149 breakfast sandwich they have. Bacon, egg and peanut butter on a roll. These are my kind of people.

Hey baby.... I chocolate you too?

try to snap a picture inside 7-11.... maybe they won't kick you out like they did with me.

there are many temples everywhere, but i guess since it was so crowded in taipei they started to have 2-3 stories temples which was a bit unusual when i saw them for the frst time last year.

oh when you go to night markets, try the oyster omelet pancake. if you like oyster. my brother's white wife said it tastes like oyster omelet with glue.
