ya Xiao long baos (I refer to them as XLBs w/ my chinese friends ) are so damn delicious. I prefer the street vendor ones to the one at Ding Tai Fung, because the skin is usually thicker. But I guess a lot of people like the soup inside the XLBs at DTF.

speaking of Taiwan, anyone been to Loveboat?

My mom sent me and my bro to loveboat back in '97...I think I just finished freshman year in high school. I had no idea what kind of camp it was going to be, but it turned out to be a good experience I guess. You do have to get to know people fast in order to be in a clique. Now that I think about it, I wish I could've done it during my college years.

LMAO they have that artery clogging bowl at KFC in Taiwan. I figured that was just a USA thing .

That's not the mashed potato/corn/chicken/cheese bowl they're advertising....I think it's one of the desserts they have (dan tah or "egg tower")

They sell it here in the states. Just go to any Asian supermarket (assuming you live near one ) and they should have it, usually 2 for $1. I'm also a big Lemon Tea fan. Nice pics BTW.

These are pictures from the computer market.

IMG_0241.jpg

This place is fantastic. Just shop after shop of everything here. I bought a Gigabyte board and an AM2 3000+ processor while I was here and it was only about $200.

IMG_0242.jpg

CompUSA? Fry's? TigerDirect? Forget about it. The stores are very large and carry a dozen different motherboards, video cards, etc.

IMG_0253.jpg

Many of the stores are two story, some are three. Some companies actually have more than one store with one on each side of the street!

IMG_0253.jpg

The above photo is from a marketplace of clothes, jewley, etc. The product was very cheap (crappy cheap, not cheap cheap) and you would just see the same thing over and over again. Nothing I would want to take home to my wife. I ended up going to a REAL jewelery store and buying real jewelery for her (still at an excellent price.)

IMG_0256.jpg

I thought the above photo was cute. Dad taking the kid out to pick up KFC.

IMG_0257.jpg

Above is a line of scooters as far as the eye can see. This is the "parking lot" outside of the bus station.

IMG_0258.jpg

Above is another "swarm" of scooters.

IMG_0258.jpg

I initially took the above photo because of the bad Engrish on the wall. "Possible is Nothing" and "Together I Am Strong????" but then I figured out what they were doing.

The picture is of the side of a giant ramp. The below soccer balls are put on top, rolled down with a person inside and they try to make it into the soccer net at the other side of the block.

IMG_0258.jpg

Apparently they LOVE soccer. Taiwan didn't even make the World Cup, did they?

IMG_0261.jpg

As if VW and Audi weren't enough... Below is yet another way to buy a VW here in Taiwan.

IMG_0287.jpg

Skoda is a Czech car company VW took a controlling interest in a while back. The above is essentially an Audi A4 chassis and the below is a Golf chassis.

IMG_0288.jpg

I personally like the way they look better than the new VW line up.

Nope. All the asian countries are really getting into football (soccer = real footbal ) and many people support English teams like Manchester United, even when having absolutely _no_ clue where Manchester is. They love David Beckham.

If you kept reading, you would find that I discovered that bbzzdd is case sensitive and that's why the pics weren't working for some.

I've corrected the links in the quoted area above. I figured if you're too busy to read, you're too busy to change "JPG" to "jpg."

Also, some of the above links don't have the '.' in '.jpg'

some don't even have the 'j'

Fixed. The links for bbzzdd are so long and that little copy/paste box they give you is so small, I'm not surprise characters got cut off. I should've CTRL-A the link instead of doing a dragging highlight.

Can someone translate this sign for me.

I was told it said "Please Use Other Door," but the "agressive pink bear" hints there's more to it than that.

the only person you need to look at when it comes to taiwan and sports is michael jordan. if you search google for the michael jordan taiwan story, it goes something like this. He was basically worshipped by the whole island, and when he visited taiwan for the first time, people bought tickets for hundreds of dollars just to get a glimpse of him. He arrived, and was there for like 10 seconds before he left. Huge story at the time, a lot of people were angry, and Jordan has never returned.

Yes, they love their international superstars in taiwan

I can guess where you went for those computer places, but didn't you go into the centers wher ethey have like 100 different small vendors selling ocmputer components? Most of them sell soem CPUs, mobos, some gfx cards. Some of them specialize in monitors and laptops, but they usually carry a few things at each place. It's indoors... My favorite ones are near the Taipei Railway Station. I know there's a far more crowded place somewhere in Taipei also known for electronics, but I prefer to go closer to the city center where I can get other stuff too.

I've never gotten anything in Taiwan for my computer. Prices to me are around the same as The Egg or ZZF, and so I'd rather get it in the US so returns are possible.

Yes. This was by Taipei station. That why there's pictures of the station on the same day. There's rows and rows of stores. Some are just laptops, some are just cases, etc.

The stuff was pretty cheap. Cheaper than the Egg, etc. Like a Seasonic S12-430 was only $60. A Seventeam 350W was only $35. Like I said, my Gigabyte AM2 board and AM2 3000+ was only $200.

But of course, I already said all this.. I guess you just didn't read any of it and only clicked on the picture links.

Oh I did look at your pics

Are you sure? The Main Station? The streets don't look that familiar to me in your pics. I

Like this one: http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/jonnyGURU/IMG_0253.jpg

The store in the Yellow that I go to is also near the Main Station, but I guess we might be talking about a different spot. I'm talking about the one if you face the Shin Kong Life building (front entrance).. the 50 story building, the yellow store is on your right. Next to the yellow electronics store is a place called Nova I believe? And once you walk in there are just store after store of electronics. Then again I believe there's about 2 of those electronics malls around the train station.

http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/jonnyGURU/IMG_0242.jpg Only outside? No pics inside? =/

Hope you're having fun though.
