Recievd 100 disc yesterday, burn 8, edge to edge, all perfect. It is clear top, plastic is thick enough, not the easy scratch one. HOWEVER, some of the center rings are spotty, frosty, not evenly clear, ... longevity is in doubt.

Got mine today very good shipping in large box wrapped in bubble wrap and then in paper to fill the box. Burning one as I type made no changes to settings with shrink and started burning a movie at 8X. Nice media as it has a smooth edge not like the teon's I had with a rough edge. As soon as the movie is done I will test with nero and another and give the results.

Run it through nero and dvd identifier both say TYG01

DVD identifier says
manufacture name taiyo yuden Co LTD

I noticed they have 9.4GB Riteks 9.4GB Ritek (and "Matrix" brand) for <$1.20/DVD. 'Think I'll also pick up a 25-pack of these to play with. Anyone have any bad comments on these Riteks?

It should be noted that these are dual sided, and not dual layer. But for playing around, $1.20 for dual sided isn't bad still

Is that really errors or what? it cant be because the PI/PIF are low. just curious.

I've seen PI/PIF erros that low. Just check out burner reviews over at CDRInfo.com. You'll see some great scans from the good burners. Yeah, that'd be great @ 8x!

Oops, sorry guys, that PI/PIF was burn at 2x. It was a friend's vocation video, somehow, somewhat, some machines are picky reading higher speed disc; I usually burn at 2x when it is not in hurry. Don't have chance to try higher speed yet, I'll try one tomorrow and see what's up.

New PI/PIF scan. This disc is little less 4GB, burn by NEC 2500 (HP branded) at 8x; scanned by Lite-on 832S. (I tried to burn one by Lite-on, it was only allowed at 4x, if it is needed, let me know, I'll burn one.)

I'd call them. There is something wrong there. I placed my order on Monday night and got them by Thursday.

BTW I just got to test mine (haven't been home because we just had our first baby this week) DVD Identifier says mine are TYG02. Which from what I've read is supposed to be the 8x variety. TYG01 - 4x and TYG02 - 8x. Can anybody else verify this?

dont even bother liteon is great as a dvdrom but not a burner. fast at reading it too
while nec sucks at reading cuz it gives more error doing so and often won't read any disc with a scratch or minor defects
I have burned many 4x generic silver dvd-r code name: lead data 01 and they work great

have you done media quality check and speed test to see if it burns perfectly at that speed
the difference between 4x and 8x is only 4min so I don't see why we should sacrifice speed over quality
I have problems reading 4x that are burned at 8x at near end of track from 3.5gb and up
It dropped from 7x reading to 1x to .5x, unbeliably slow and i'm lucky its able to read it at all
This is with nec 2510a thought, with nec burner it can't read at all. it would stop dead everytime at 3.5gb
