If it were me (and it couldn't be, because I'd wait until July and get a C2D), I'd stick with a Pentium D 940 and 2GB DDR2-667 and save $200+ doing it. The difference in speed certainly is worh the savings, IMO.

Actually, I'd use some of that $200+ savings and bump up the 7900 GT to an X1900 XT. The system overall would be much faster gaming-wise, and still cheaper.

Buddy of mine has had trouble with 3 of his last 4 MaxLine IIIs. I just bought a Seagate 7200.10 320GB for like $110. I'd consider switching to that instead of the MaxLine.

Why get a 4200 when you could just overclock the X2 3800? You're going to get 4200 speeds (and then some) out of any 3800 with a few BIOS adjustments - especially with that mobo. Seems sorta silly to pay AMD for something you can just do on your own.

Are you going to have 7900GT SLI (2x7900GT) eventually? If no, then get MSI K9N Platinum Motherboard if you plan to use single 7900gt

Looks good, but in my opinion could be made better.

Move to a better case, something in the Lian Li family would be my suggestion. Change the PSU to a 380 or 430 watt Seasonic S12, 500 watts isn't needed unless you are considering SLi or Crossfire.

Personal preference; change the RAM to Corsair, Crucial, or Geil. Change the GPU to an ATi 1800XT or 1900XT.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard; it's a power supply it doesn?t matter what the computer is used for.

The Enermax is a good PSU, Seasonic is just better that?s all.

I agree with going for the non SLI board unless that is your plan. If you don't do SLI get a smaller PSU.

The case looks good to me. Has two 12cm fans just like the comparably priced Lian Li.

Oh yeah, I'd probly go with a 512MB vid card but that's just me.

i had couple of enermax and antec psu's dying on me while gaming. it gave me bad luck with these products.

Again, someone spending tons of money on cpu performance and a mediocre video card.

For $1300+, you should have at least an X1900 XT. Hell, even a nice 7900 GT in SLI system could be had for less than $1300.

Seriously, tell me which would give better gaming performance, your config with the OC'd X2, or this (all at stock speeds)...
