I have an accelero x2 on my gpu, this might be blowing hot air on my sensor. Will newegg take it back? Should I leave it, it is so quiet. Should I get a zelman instead? Is it worth the restocking fee and sending it back?

edit: think my 30 days are up

the zalman doesn't work very well at all on x1900s, apparently.

ya I used a zalman vf700cu on my x1800xt, and now I am using an Accelero. At the worst, it is 5C cooler under load, at best it id 10+ cooler....

On my x1900xtx I also got better temps with the Accelero than either of the Zalman coolers.

No problems here. I even have the DFI Ultra-D board that has the chipset right under the video card (but I did replace the crap little chipset cooler with a better one) and it raised the chipset temps by a few degrees, but it still only reaches ~55C under full load.

Man munky, I hated it when my chipset got that hot. In fact, I think that is what caused some spontaneous crashes sometimes. I eventually put a HR-05 w/ an 80mm fan and now it never goes above 42C, stays around 36C for the most part.

jack,

1) Did you ever find out the ATI Tool problem?

2) I've got the Zalman VF-900 on mine, but I'm willing to bet that the accelero would do you just fine and isn't worth the hassel. Besides, don't bother giving the accelero back to newegg just for the Zalman, they're not THAT much different--at least to be worth the trouble. If anything, just get the accelero and decide for yourself which one works best for you, and sell the other one after you've experienced both.

ya, solved the ati tool thing, i guess. got some errors about not finding the drivers or ati tool tray or something. i ended up using ati tool and ccc.

i'm keeping the accelero. i get 30C-35C cpu temps now and 40-45 mobo temps. not sure why the mobo is 40C and 45C full load. maybe the one I got just runs hot. if it breaks in a year or two, i think they have a 3 year warranty, right?

Don't know about the warranty, but why are you talking about CPU and MB temps when the GPU cooler is in question? Are you just wondering about the case temps between the two GPU coolers? From what I gather, a greater majority of people seem to be getting better results with the accelero, so I can't say you chose wrong. I'd like to try it, but the HR-05 chipset cooler keeps me from doing so.

Im using it on mine and its great. Cooler than stock and silent at 100%.

I didnt like the look of the X2 because of where the hot air got expelled, while my zalman blows it straight at an extractor fan above the card.

I wouldn't say it's silent at 100% To be quite honest, It is probably the loudest fan in my case, and also the smallest. I've got mine at 100% too, and I can definately hear it. It does beat the stock cooler though, so I'm happy...at least until I get some water.

Well of course its all subjective, my case fans, HD fans and CPU fan drown out the VF900 fan anyway, even though my case is very quiet when theyre turned down. Its certainly a lot quieter than the leaf blower that is the stock fan .
