We posted it in the thread for the trailer for the movie Dredd. The international trailer has been out for a few days.

EDIT:

I saw on IMDB that the "normal" trailer is out, but this is the international one too. I just checked out the IMDB one, and it's the same thing anyway.

What is funny is that I am in the minority for not being a fan of the first movie. My biggest problem with it was that there were no conflicts--he just kicked ass all the way through. However, I thought the trailer looks badass, I'll go as far to guess that Taken 2 will be better than the first.

The conflict is that he's one man searching for his daughter and that there's constant opposition from enemies and people he would consider friends. Just like Lorenzo Lamas, he's operating outside the law.

but that's why the movie is sooo good

just like the Bourne movies

there are too many movies where the protagonist fucks up in some stupidly convenient manner, there would otherwise be little that is special about this movie - its actually somewhat unique for the protagonist to be an unstoppable juggernaut.

that being said I think they might need to kill one or both of the women this time, otherwise you'll be sort of right in that there's little conflict if this one results in super happy ending yet again. The one thing we weren't sure of in Taken 1 was whether or not the daughter was dead or alive; the movie was straight up adrenaline-pumping ass-kicking, but whether or not he was going to save his daughter was largely up in air. However his vengeance was pretty much never in question, and that's really what made the movie awesome.

To enjoy the movie you really just have to let go. There is no depth to Taken, just enjoyment, entertainment, and fun. Just watch it and enjoy. That's all there is too it. ANY further discussion or debate about anything other than how badass Liam Neeson is, is pointless. Not every movie needs to be Citizen Kane.

And Taken was particularly good because it fulfilled that role so well. Nobody loves the original Punisher with Dolf Lundgren, or Stallone's Cobra crapfest. But for anyone who likes Taken, Arnold's Commando is an even campier, more ludicrous, but just as much fun movie.

They killed off her daughter's friend, that was probably as close as they could get without killing the daughter.

For a joke, my wife and I tried to tally up the body count... we lost track at 35...

Exactly. This is the same reason why I liked "From Paris with Love". It was 90 mins of Travolta killing people at a rate of 1-2 min.

I guess to some people it's not a problem, but even the shittiest B-Grade Jean Claude Van Damme movie has conflict and resolution. My point is, if he just goes through the entire movie without a single conflict or any sense of danger that would begotten the protagonist, that makes for one hell of a boring movie. If you take Casino Royale with Daniel Craig, that movie was well done because you see Bond in some parts of the movie a broken down person, both physically and mentally. You take Jason Bourne, he was hounded and hunted all through the 3 movies, there is always a looming danger that keep you as the viewer enthralled.

While I will for sure see this when it comes out on Bluray, I can't but wish Liam would focus on higher quality flicks to help offset these mostly mindless ass kicking fighting for his life movies he's been on a roll with lately.

Then he does pretty cringe worthy movies like Clash and Wrath of the Titans and Battleship.

I consider him a pretty solid actor but some of the role choices are interesting IMO...

Guess maybe since his wife passed he just wants to keep as busy as he can to keep himself occupied.
