Bla bla bla, stupid neighbor. I could care less if my neighbor built something like that on HIS PROPERTY.

Neighbor guy needs to pull the stick out of his ass.

Well it is Britain and any minute I am sure they are going to start forcing their workers to be screamed at by large heads on TV's .. so I guess I am not surprised.

idk, if I built a tower right next to my neighbor's house and spent my time in it hanging out and looking down into his yard, I think he'd have a justifiable complaint.

It would be so awesome to chill up in that tree. The fact that the neighbour got SO upset that he threatened to kill him and burn the tree down... Maybe he's got a meth lab going or something...

I wouldn't want my kids playing in that thing. Goes too high and lacks adequate railings. It also eliminates any Privacy my Fence was meant to provide. Should be torn down, to a reasonable height.

people get really bent out of shape when it comes to property values. I think the tree house looks awesome. This is also why I'm glad I live in a rural area on 12 acres that I can do whatever the fuck I want.

Whats funny is that I can just look over my fence and peek at me neighbors all day if I wanted. And how does this deal with 2 or 3 story houses? I have never seen a 30 foot privacy fence in a suburb.

Why? Anyone with a second story can look down into your yard. Hell he could just CLIMB the tree if he really wanted to watch you doing nude handstands in your backyard.

Outrageous that he is being asked to take it down.

In the US we do it the correct way. We have HOA's that would make you take it down.

The contact details for the article's publshers are:

20 Franklin Street
PO Box 15012
Worcester, MA 01615-0012
Telephone: (508) 793-9100

So I guess it's not Britain, since:

"the multistory tree house towered 50 feet high and overlooked the yards of Mr. Cepko and another neighbor, Worcester Fire Chief Gerard Dio. "

It's a local issue they're reporting here. That aside, there is a Worcester in Britain.

it's also illegal. Deemed an ?accessory structure? by code inspectors, it violates zoning ordinances that prohibit it from being higher than 15 feet, or located less than 5 feet from any lot line.

I assume there's a reason for the ordinances.

Okay, can anybody find this guy? I have an address and phone, was hoping to get an email, but the only reference I can find is an 11 year old research publication at Clark. Probably still there, except he's not listed on their website as faculty.

Many local bylaws indicates that property owner to not own certain trees of certain size (more or less an environmental & heritage thing).

The article also indicates that the structural broke the bylaw by being taller than 15 feet (tree house is 50 feet tall), and have to be 5 feet away from the plot line.

I love large engineering & architecture feats much more than the average person, but there is a time & a place for such thing. IMHO, that abomination that they call a tree house should be pull down immediately. Every local jurisdictions around my city would give the guy 30 days to pull that structure down, or face a minimum of $100 fine per day. After a certain amount of time the city would remove the structure and bill the homeowner for the cost of removal ++ fines.
