she reported it to the cops when this all first came to light back in 2012, but the cops were unable to figure out who he was talking about or who sent her the anonymous letter, so their investigation couldn't go very far.

it's only now that the whole thing is actually getting leaked to the media.

my understanding is that the statute of limitations doesn't start ticking down until after the victim turns 18.

on the flip side of it, if enough time passes it's going to be hard for the accused to get a fair trial, as any evidence/witnesses for his defense are going to be long old, stale, unreliable, dead, etc.

He confessed that he did bad things, but to only three victims and only from 1973 to 1994. He stated that since 1994, he has not had the urge in 20 years.

Because we all know that pedophiles can turn it off, just like that.

This was his way to try some damage control - to put out there that he was a bad person, but has been a good person for 20+ years.
