Cut (Palazzo) and Craft (MGM) are arguably the best Steakhouses in Vegas.

Mesa (Caesar's) is good for breakfast or lunch.

Upper levels of the Chandelier Bar (Cosmo) is my favorite place to chill with a drink, especially on the second floor view where all the little black dresses line up for the club there. There is an unmarked, hidden, excellent NY style pizza joint on the same floor.

Outside of Caesar's is Serendipity 2 of Oprah frozen hot chocolate fame.

The TV Italian chef with the little body and big head - Giada De Laurentiis - opened a new restaurant in the Cromwell.

They opened a giant ferris wheel in Vegas too.

Best show I've seen there is the Beatle's themed Cirque du Soleil "Love" at the Mirage.

Best omakase sushi I've ever had (NYC, SF, LA, Waikiki) was actually in Vegas, a hidden place north of Chinatown ($15 cab ride) called Kabuto.

And if you must do buffet, the Wynn has a very nice one but I think the pre-sliced king crab legs are only for dinner.

Funny my in-laws were rather disappointed with Mesa (Bobby Flay's place, right?).

Cut was excellent. Good God the memory of that steak lingers in my mind.

Zion is incredible and totally worth a trip. It's a good 3 hours one-way from Vegas. Wouldn't recommend it for a day trip. Would be a great 2-3 day side trip if you can afford the time, though.

Can you elaborate on why it wouldn't be good for a day trip? We have about three full days to do stuff so I was debating on getting a car for two of them and just picking 2 or 3 things to do.

The Hoover Dam came to mind since neither of us have seen it and my co-worker saying about Zion...that they had some sort of tour that drove through the area or that we might get to drive through it and hike a little bit.

There are so many things to pick from. I figured we would check out the strip one day and then find something off the strip the next couple of days during the day (outside of visiting Fry's ) down the road.

Well, it's 6 hours round trip to Zion, so that doesn't leave a whole lot of time for sightseeing. It is a very compact park so one day would be enough to do the main tour and a couple of shorter hikes. If you're fit Angels Landing would be tough but doable. That hike will give you the best view of the park, hell one of the best views in the world IMO. . It'd be a shame to go and not do the narrows, though. Look up the Zion Narrows, it's one of the funnest hikes in the country.

Haven't stayed there yet but went for Drais Dayclub/Nightclub/Afterhours. Are the rooms nice? The casino floor looks amazing.

I mean just the exterior alone compared to what it was...

vs

I hear Giada's restaurant is really good (and hot) right now.

Lmao yeah. I remember the first time I went there for Drais and I kept wondering if this was the right place.

Here's Drais Night Club when I went there Memorial.

Last time I went I stayed at the Wynn. Great place and great food. A little pricey, but imho it was worth it.

And here is the 3rd floor balcony bar at Twin Peaks Sports Bar when I was there during the Electric Daisy Carnival weekend in June:

But you may want to pass on this one if you are going with your wife...

MGM grand for $70 per night with coupon codes. Also received 2 free tickets to any show I wanted. But the only show that was left was the crappy criss angel show. I wanted to see Beatles Love or KA.

if you are on a budget i wouldn't recommend going to vegas.

I disagree. Vegas is one of the cheapest places you can go for a vacation.

Rental cars and 3 star hotels are dirt cheap. There are a lot of good restaurants off the strip that are pretty cheap.

Then there is that myvegas online game where you can accumulate a lot of points and cash them in to get free meals, hotel, shows, drinks, etc...

If you are arriving in the evening or late afternoon I would suggest renting a car and driving to ZION and getting a room. Get up early so you can see the sunrise on the mountains. Spend the first part of the day at ZION. Then drive through the mountain to Bryce Canyon. When you are finished you can drive back to Vegas for late dinner.

A good late afternoon - sunset trip is to the Valley of Fire.

A day trip to Death Valley or Joshua Tree would be well worth it as well.

Stay downtown - cheaper drinks, for frequent free drinks when gambling and great entertainment that is free as well.
