Taking WoW from PC -> Mac

Let's say someone wanted to switch from PC to Mac and they played WoW. Would they be able to simply use another person's copy of the game and once it was installed use their account name and password to log in?

It seems silly that they would need to purchase another copy of the game in order to switch platforms. This question assumes that the player has already purchased a legal copy of the game for their PC and has access to someone who has the game for Mac.

That would work just fine. Your online login is not tied to your computer in any way, shape, or form. If you already have an account, and can find a copy of the software, you can install and run on any computer.

World of Warcraft is a "hybrid" release. That means that both the Mac and PC versions of the game are on the same disc in the same box. You won't need to purchase (or borrow) another copy.

Blizzard did the same thing with Warcraft 3.

Blizzard has the best Mac support in the industry, hands down. All of their games since D2X have been hybrid releases, and unless you got D2 the day it came out, it's hybrid too (the mac version came out four weeks after the PC version). They even went back and carbonized StarCraft and D2 and wrote new installers for OS X.
