Just heard on Fox News that Reuters is reporting that the Taliban is moving their scud missles into position and are targeting them at Pakistan.
Dumb move, IMO.

Edit: It just gets better. The Taliban has 20,000 troops right by the Pakistan/Afganistan boarder. Claims they are "reinforcing defenses"

I guess the talibans answer is no. Stupid, ignorant phucks...20,000 of them in one area too...wow, where is our bombers at..probably never have a chance like that again.
I hope it forces Pakistan's hand to let in ground troops from the US and Nato, to not only eliminate the Talibans, but to protect Pakistan from their "friend"...

imho..all talibans are useless dregs to society that deserve to die because they offer nothing to society but pain and suffering

OMG.......that is NOT a smart move! So many keep trying to say we are playing into Osama's & The Taliban's hand........I've got to disagree.......they're making some (for lack of better word) "rookie" mistakes as will be seen by the world & the military. The only step left that would be worse would be for them to actuall lanch an attack before the US does and based on their reactions so far......it wouldn't suprise me!

Heard the same on MSNBC. What MSNBC said that you didn't mention is the AGE of these rockets and the fact that Afghanistan does not have the parts or knowledge to maintain the rockets. These are very likely duds... but even the possibility of being duds does nto mean we should dismiss them.

If I were them then I'd be saving every piece of ammo (including missiles) that I had, cause they're about to get bitch-slapped.

I sure hope they are. Though it wouldn't suprise me if they're aren't.
I just pray they don't put some biological weapon in the warhead :|

Well I guess they're ready for war then. Not a suprise actually, considering how fanatic they are...

Let's see how Pakistan reacts to this move.

Please correct if I'm wrong, but it is my understanding through news commentators that Pakistan people are divided between USA and Osama Bin Laden.

I did hear about the scud missles along the Pakistan border. What I didn't hear that "The Taliban has 20,000 troops right by the Pakistan/Afganistan boarder." If this is true this may be good news for us for obvious reasons. 20,000 troops in one place!

The question is, who is more patient? Would it be to our advantage to hit first? I've read so much and things are changing so quickly, I can't remember if Pakistan has given the US rights to Pakistans airspace. I believe they did, but did they change their mind?

They hit us first in NYC and Washington, so it's too late for that.

Pakistan has been a major supplier of food, products, ammo, etc etc to the Taliban. There's also many Afghan refugees living in Pakistan from what I've heard on the news.
However, the United States/UN has put sanctions on Pakistan for testing their Nuclear bomb a little while back. Pakistan also is in debt to the US and many other countries. Siding with the US might they might be able to get some of the debt and sanctions releaved.
Combine all those and Pakistan gets put in a very hard position on which side it's going to take, that of the US or the Taliban.
I believe Pakistan chosen the right side though

Pakistan has atomic bombs, and the Taliban rolls out Scuds that may or may not work.......

For some reason I'm not seeing how the Pakistan government is going to be too scared.

Pakistan doesn't have enough troops to fight two fronts. They can't fight India over Kashmir and the Taliban at the same time. Pakistan isn't dumb enough to use Nukes, they'd be damned forever.
I do think the US would jump in and help in an instant if the Taliban decided to strike. I don't think they're that dumb though.

I wouldnt say scared, but concerned. I mean 1 scud (no matter how badly aimed) can kill hundreds of innocent people. Pakistan should take caution IMO.

Considering how poor they are in Pakistan, they would be doing them a favor by putting them out of their misery of the scuds actually worked. Besides that, I'm sure the Pakistanis have already asked for and gotten us to put in some Patriot missles to take out any scuds.

You know, Howard, I've seen you bitch about how poor you are.

Perhaps we should put you out of your misery?

Every time you open your mouth here you spout garbage, where do you find the stupidity necessary to produce it all?

I'm concern with the stability of the Pak government. There are many supporters of the Taliban in Pakistan. In fact many Taliban fighters are Pakistanis.

Not every culture measures happiness by material wealth, sorry.
Support is only about 50% from what I heard from the avg Pakistani citizen?
Lets see they could shoot down Scuds 10 yrs ago in the Gulf war should be easier now shouldn't it?

Gotta agree with ViperGTS. Howard you make yourself sound more and more like an idiot with every post you make. How old are you anyway? 10? 13?

Seems a lot of these threads have a good conversation going on until Howard decides to open his mouth....

As for the discussion, I'm sure we will do everything in our power to support Pakistan if/when Afghanistan decides to strike. We cannot allow those atomic weapons to fall into the hands of the Taliban... the region is too unstable as it is. If Afghanistan does decide to strike, I'm sure we would mobilize within the hour.

God Bless America.

Scuds going straight up...then fall staight down. Self bombing Talibans.
The ground targets are forming. I love it.

If the Taliban use scuds on Pakistan, they are going to loose favor with the Pakistani people very fast. And that is something Pakistan's dictator would love. Hope he somehow secretly doesn't instigate the Afghans to use the scuds on Pakistan.

Does anyone know the range of the scuds? They can't reach Israel from Afghanistan, can they? Because the fastest way for the Taliban to get sympathy from the Arab world would be by attacking Israel.

They have a pretty good range. Iraq could hit Israel with them.

Afghanistan is not very bright taking such a threatening posture. Any hope they had of Pakistan support is all but shot out the window now
