Great monitor, I had one, it had very little backlight bleed and IPS glow. I also really liked the more aggressive curve on the display.

Keep in mind that if you have an NVIDIA card you will be limited to 60hz. You can set it to 75hz but it will skip frames at anything over 60. 75 is only achievable by enabling Freesync in the monitor's OSD and using an AMD card.

These 34" ultrawides are a great experience though - plenty of desktop real estate for productivity and a super immersive for gaming.

Yep, went from 30" 2560x1600 -> 34" UW 3440x1440 and it was a huge boost to both. Once you go UW you don't go back

Enjoy your new monitor OP!

You know a part of the reason I got an UW was my wife's fault. I had just received my XB270HU and she was like, "That's the same size as your last one. Is that even an upgrade?" I thought to myself, damn, she's right. So on to the UW then!

Just wait until you put up multiple windows side by side or spreadsheets. I had multiple excel sheets up today on my 34" and it just reminded me of why I bought it in the first place.

Hey moonbogg, did you ever ask your wife how much she spent when she found out you bought the ultrawide?

sigh... i ran into a slight problem.
The bar behind my monitor is partially blocking the DP port on the LG, and i would need a 90 degree DP adapter which i cant seem to find.

So having to twist the monitor a little is sqewing the axis on the monitor making it look crooked.
But so far no dead pixels, and it looks fabulous.
Need to wait til it gets dark to see how much back light bleed i get.

But that curve doesnt seem all that special now that i am looking at it you rarely notice its curved infact.

this is one of the reasons why i cant live without a monitor in portrait.
You have no idea how much easier things like spreadsheets become when u have more horizontal space.

I will have to investigate this. When the price of the ultrawide came up, I just told her she didn't want to know. She rolled her eyes, lol.

Also, nice setup there OP! Looking fancy with those vertical flanking monitors.

My sheets are wide so I need landscape to see them. If I'm working an accounting sheet I want to see both sides of the equation as they balance out Mainly I like to stack windows when I research so I can have multiple sources on screen while I type which makes for easier references in APA. Then of course the occasional game which I like so I can see more peripheral contacts.

so update...

i managed to get 75hz out of the monitor with nvidia control panel.
I dont see any shuttering in any of the games i have played so far.

So far i am liking this monitor, but i dont see anything special about the curve.
Infact in some aspects i even forget i have a curve unless i stare at the bottom and top borders.

Also i see very little light bleed which i am happy about.

I think the point of having an EW monitor with a curve is that you do not notice it is an EW so much.

I'm not sure, have never used a curved one for any extended period of time myself.

My Dell EW IPS is only about 29 " and straight, but I've been happy with it on my main.

It did eventually pick up a dead pixel over time. but it is on the far left on the edge of the screen, so it really isn't a major issue to me.

So i am interested in this monitor
LG 34UC88-B 34-Inch 21:9 Curved UltraWide QHD IPS Monitor

Amazon Link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B9IDL4I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I wanted to use it for the primary monitor with a pair of 2 x 27's i currently have on portrait on the side like wings because i like portrait mode for viewing web pages and other things.

I hate the bezels on my current setup, so that single 34 inch curved would probably be real eye candy for gaming and movies.

Its 3440 x 1440 Pixels, and not a 4k, but meh, i don't really think i will need a 4k or should i wait for a 4K version? I really dont want to spend 1k for a monitor, i havent spent that much since i had my Dell 30's.

Video Card i have is 980 Ti's in SLI, so i dont think i am lacking gpu prowess for that 34inch.

But talk me out of it please... Unless you think its a very good monitor and worth the 700 dollar price tag.
