On related note, I am shopping for 1.28g Watersense toilets for a rental property. I need to replace 2 1950s American Standard toilets (probably use 4-5 to gal per flush) . I have sort of narrowed down my choice to the the Lowes Aquasource 1203 -$100 or the Kohler Highline Classic- $180. The plumbing guy at Lowes (a retired plumbler who has has worked there for 3yrs) told that me either toilet would be fine. He mentioned that his store sold about 1200 of the Aquasouce 1203 toilets last year and only 4 or 5 were returned. He told me that the Aquasource can be repaired with the generic parts available everywhere ( Fluidmaster, Korky etc). He told me that the Kohler is great product but has a proprietary flush mechanism . Lowes stocks the main seal for the flush valve (only) and the fill valve can be replaced with with a generic fill valve (Fluidmaster, Korky) . Between the two choices, it seems like the Aquasource 1203 may be better for this application because of replacement parts availablity. I mentioned the American Standard Cadet 3 and he basically said it was ok but that was about it . Any recommendations, keeping in mind that this is a rental property and reliability and parts availablity are my major considerations. Yes, I know the Toto toilets are great but I just want to buy at the store and install it tomorrow. -Thanks
