Farrell has another satire movie coming out that is based around figure skating.
He has piegeonholed himself into these roles, willingly.
It was funny at one point, now it's just getting worn.

If he can do stand-up comedy then he may have some redeeming qualities, I doubt that is possible.

Some people like Ferrell's humor. Some don't. Nuff said. I love his offbeat sense of humor and his unwavering commitment to his characters. Anchorman, IMHO, was pretty funny, but it wasn't nearly as gutbusting as some of his SNL stuff which I see as the pinacle of his work. Harry Carry? Robert Goulet (sp?)? His skits had me rolling on the floor 90% of the time. Stand-up or not I could care less. So many stand-up comedians are just one-trick ponies with a basic routine plus a few ancillary jokes they swap in and out every other show. I will agree though that he's started to become typecast ever since Anchorman though, which is a bad sign. I want to see him do more comedy, just not the same character in a different setting every time.

I'm not a fan of Will Ferrell. I didn't like him in Old School, and found him tolerable on SNL. But, I thought Talladega Nights was pretty funny.

I certainly liked this movie a lot - definately liked it a lot more than the other "blockbuster" summer movies, x-men, pirates, superman, etc. It's not a thinking man's comedy, you shouldn't be expecting Jon Stewart style comedy filled with knowledge & clever insights. You don't watch Will Ferrel movies to say "That's completely unrealistic, I cannot laugh at that." It's more like, "If somebody actually did do that, it would be a hilarious situation!"

I don't understand why people have the belief that they are the all-knowing power of the universe. "If I say it's not funny, then by God that's the truth for all and no one should ever watch the movie - Because I say so!"

Anchorman is easily the funniest movie of all time. Its also a movie that grows on you. I saw it in the theaters and thought it was just ok, and each time I saw it, it got funnier. I've got a feeling this movie will be the same way.

I saw it yesterday, thought it was hilarious. Dragged on a bit towards the middle, but it was still pretty great. Not as great as Anchroman, but still funny.
