I like tan... but as it turns out, my wife has very fair skin and can't tan much at all. So what... I don't care. I love her.

The more I read ATOT, the more I realize that 99.99% of the world's "problems" can be solved with this single phrase:

Everything in moderation.

Seriously - tanning, weed, drinking, WoW, fat chicks, skinny chicks, pr0n - you name it. If you are ranting or whining or b1tching about it, chances are, just cutting back makes your entire argument disappear.

Tanning - get some sun, but don't over do it.
Weed - enjoy it, but don't be a stoner loser
Drinking - partake, but don't get tanked and try to drive or something stupid
WoW - it's a game, not a lifestyle - go out once in a while
Fat chicks - curves are nice, beached whales are not - put down that Twinkie
Skinny chicks - fit it nice, but FFS, eat a sammich once in a while
pr0n - watch, but don't beat it until it turns purples and falls off

No thanks. My gym is 5 minutes from my house which is also 5 minutes from my tanning salon, which is also 5 minutes from my house. Afterwards, I can go get something to eat from almost any type of resturaunt which is probably going to be 5 minutes from my house. After dinner, I can go to the mall and buy something with all the money I saved on gas for the day......and the mall is 5 minutes from my house.

I've heard idiots say 'oooh I'm building up a base tan before I go on vacation' or some trash like that. Wrong. Tanning is damage to your skin plain & simple. You don't want to burn at the beach? Wear sunblock dumbass. Saying you're building up a base-tan is like throwing yourself through a glass window and then telling everyone you're building up base-injuries before driving without a seat-belt.

As someone who works outside in the Florida sun all day, and by my experience (no medical/scientific basis), I can definitely say that having a tan does help you to not burn. Not saying the sun isn't continuing to damage the skin....but I simply don't burn/peel anymore.

Changing the skin color doesn't make anybody more attractive IMO. But, people who tan feel probably better and look happier and so on. It's just like some make-up, you feel more prettier if you use it.

By the way... do many black people go tanning ?

Personnally, I don't think tanned people look more attractive. I like the plain stuff, whatever the color.
