Bullshit, we have cases were people drinking water is so contaminated that it becomes flammable. There are examples of people who live near these places who are able to light up their own tap water. You need to watch the documentary Gasland.

Don't bother, he is obviously in the industry and his lively-hood depends on this destructive technology.

I am not against it but should not be wrecking the water under population centers like they are doing in Pennsylvania.

That's one of the areas where you can light the water at the tap.

I live in a state with a great environmental record and some of the stringest antipollution laws in America.
And my towns water still sucks.

And I live next to 5-10% of the US crude inventory! And on top of one of the biggest if not THE biggest oil fields in the state.

We can't be arsed to worry too much about the environment, too lucrative

Sad you would poison the drinking water of your own grandchildren and their grandchildren for some extra money today.

All the people crying about the drilling could you please stop driving your cars and also while you're at it go ahead and turn your electricity off since 40% of your electricity is powered by natural gas. It's a perfectly safe proven technique. Yeah you're gonna have some drilling rigs and a shitload of eighteen wheelers in the area but that's as bad as the problem gets. And I can't even tell you how the natural gas/ oilfield has improved the economy where I'm at. There are going to be a lot of well paying jobs coming to the areas they plan on drilling in. Would you guys rather keep funding the asshole countries that hate us? Sure there is gonna be some mishaps. If you drive a car you have a chance of wrecking. Does that stop you from driving? Of course not. The rewards outweigh the risks. I can't believe you guys actually buy that shit spouted in gasland.

yea pretty much a lot of nimby in here.

i do work for " a company" and i do not think it is not something that needs less regulation. i take issue with the purported "facts" in the movie gasland. natural gas in drinking water is a problem that is caused by bad cement jobs and leaking casing, things that can be fixed and avoided. i run services that can fix these problems. you can avoid these problems by not reaching the burst pressure of whatever casing you are using and running good cement bond logs. i also run these. it is not a result of fracturing but of poor design and poor quality service companies.
I run services that track propent and fracture fluid within the well and reservoirs, logs that show how fluid is moving within the wellbore and on the outside of the casing between producing zones, services that look for casing leaks and splits.

The water is not burning, the gas that is also in the line is burning.

Simply wow, that page reads like propaganda from for the Gas/Oil company. Really stop listening to them and start listening to the real experts.

fwiw, the majority of any experts in any field that is commercially successful work for the companies that are in those fields.

Wow. I thought we had moved beyond the ridiculous notion that if you have concerns about anything that produces energy than you should stop driving your car.

This new procedure uses chemicals being injected into the ground that could possibly taint entire watersheds or even kill people. Yet, the drilling companies won't tell us how much they are pumping in and exactly what they are pumping in?

And people have the mindset if you question this you should give up your car

Most ridiculous post in this thread. Outside of OP's.

In reality there is no current shortage of oil in the US. The problem is no one wants the source in their backyard.

Wrong. If you have a large oil reserve under your farm, you're an instant millionaire.

I'm always flabbergasted when I see people act irrationally when they hear the word chemical.

It is quite rational to worry when UNKNOWN chemicals in UNKNOWN amounts are being injected into the ground adjacent to our water supplies. Especially when it has already caused severe damage in some areas.

This seems to be the correct time to worry.
