So, what is the markdown schedule at Target?
Know it was posted somewhere but the crappy search feature is of no help.

Anyone?
Bueller?

I was just wondering this last night. I still haven't befriended any of the employees at my local store!

I know that cosmetics is sometime during the middle of March, and Electronics is the end of March ... but short of that I dunno. I could try asking some coworkers next time I work, but that won't be until Friday at the earliest.

MARKDOWN SCHEDULE:
Monday--kids clothing and electronics (I think food also)
Tuesday--women's clothing and domestics (maybe food too)
Wednesday--men's clothing, toys, health and beauty
Thursday--lingerie, shoes, house wares, sporting goods
Friday--cosmetics, hardware, auto and jewelry

Taken fron Aliendeals.com just click on the target tab on their home page

Last Friday, my local Target just marked the sheet, blanket to 50% off. I hope they will mark those to 75% this week.

Are we talking this week, or is this the usual cycle for clearance markdowns? My store told me there was no set day; stuff can be marked down any time.

This schedule has been recently posted and considered to be a the usual cycle for
markdowns. not just this week. I bookmarked the website a couple of weeks ago when
this was posted on FW. I have scored one really good deal using this schedule
since. It's just a general guideline YMMV.

Thanks. I remember missing the golf markdown because it happened sometime between closing Thursday and opening on Sunday, so I'm not sure this is the pattern for my store, but I'll keep it in mind, especially when looking for electronics.

Word of warning on the 0.00 scans for my fellow target shoppers. I found a couple of the clearance mongoose bikes today that scanned at 0.00. I had purchased one last week for 75% off which was $34.98 so I told the cashier the price I paid last week and he asked someone who I assume was the assistant manager and he said "no problem give it to him for $34.98" so I purchased them and a Target employee that works in the bike section even helped me wheel them out to my car. A few minutes later as I'm loading them in my vehicle a team of six Target employees (including the manager and assistant manager) come storming out to my car like I just did an armed robbery and demands the bikes back. I told them that I had purchased the same exact bike for that price last week and I could produce a receipt to show them. They told me there was no way I had gotten them for that and I just told them I could care less they could have the bikes back but I really didn't care to be treated like a criminal in the parking lot of Target. I later went back and showed the manager the previous receipt just to show him I wasn't full of sh!t and remind him that I didn't appreciate the treatment I received.

You had completed a legal transaction and allowed them to bully you into reneging? I would have dialed 911 and reported theft of my property in progress if they touched MY bike. And if they touched me, it would have been assault to boot. You had a receipt from the transaction you had just completed, right? Transaction finished, property ownership transferred.

Sue Target for defamation/slander and the intentional infliction of severe emotional distress.

I don't think it's quite that easy. If there's an obvious error in the system, or it was discovered the customer used false information to purchase something (swapping price tags/packaging, etc.), I think a judge would side on the side of the store, especially if it's a considerable amount of money.

In this case, it was a load of bull. But the store has a right to protect itself, too. Like when people think they can sue because a store or online retailer won't honor some pricing error that gives them a trinket for 30 instead of $230. If it's an honest mistake that's obvious, they have the right not to honor it.

But that's just my opinion.

How do they have bikes on clearance now? It's almost summer again!

The last thing I wanted to do was wait around to talk to a cop while Target employees hovered over me to discuss a couple bikes but I am interested in making sure this doesn't happen to me or anyone else again.

I didn't look around a whole lot but did see

Lexar sm card readers - 6.24
Lexar mem stick readers - 6.24
Avery Laser Address labels - 1.18
There were some Avery and Burlington greeting cards 75% off too (didn't check price)
Asst wrapping paper etc 75% off

The many boomboxes that were previously discounted have gone 50% off.

Vag, I respect your decision but the point is you were under no obligation to wait around. The property belonged to you. Any attempt to physically detain you from leaving the premises with your property would have been classified as assault.
