I really like this backpack. It has plenty of compartments while remaining compact. It fits my big Dell 9100 laptop just fine and after 5 months of hard use, still hasn't frayed at all.

Pretty good reviews on Amazon, and the price BEFORE MIR is still $2 cheaper than Amazon's price AFTER the MIR. I'm kind of sick of having to "package" up my laptop in my Samsonite L35 (or is it 45, I have no idea anymore) to take it to work, I've been tossing it in a regular backpack but this thing looks pretty good. For $12 you can't really go wrong.

How big is the Dell 9100? I have a 15" laptop and a swiss army backback for it but the laptop barely fits in it. Also the backpack I have holds its shape so even if I dont have anything in it, its still as big as it is if I fill it up. Is that the case with this backpack? I want one that wont look like I have a bunch of things in it if I dont.

The backpack can hold laptops with up to a 15.4" screen. I can attest that it does, since I have a 15.4" screen on my laptop, and it fits snugly in the laptop compartment. As for the laptop size, it collapses in the depth dimension (i.e. front to back) if it's empty, but the backpack still looks somewhat big b/c of it's width (doesn't really collapse side to side).

Yea, thats what I meant if it has a smaler depth if you dont have stuff in it. Hmm...might be time to get rid of my swiss army 'pack.

Good bag - just got mine yesterday. Sturdy (for the money anyway) and holds all my little gadgets. Maybe not the best thing for a high school student with 10 books, but great otherwise - holds drinks, cds, your laptop, papers, etc.

Looks like that laptop backpack is one of the only backpacks where free shipping doesn't apply... even if you bring the total over $25.

I called buy.com twice and they wouldnt budge.... despite them not giving me a good reason why free shipping didn't apply. They ticked me off so bought from amazon for less then 2 bucks more total. (they have free shipping and the rebate too)
