Sorry for the mental sloth, but...

I'm not finding the 19.88 price. Does it have anything to do with the "B&M" bit in the title? And what does that mean?

Thanks

B&M means Brick and Mortar...
This means in store only and not the web site... so put on your walking shoes and take a trip

Wow! Great price! I recently bought the IBM version of this... I have my USR Courier plugged into the serial and my HP LaserJet IV plugged into the Parallel... works great and NO pesky cables to deal with in the back of my box! It's very cool to have just 4 cables coming from the back of my box... 1-USB, 1-Power, 1-Video, 1-audio ! I just love that for some impractical reason.

Us modern people have moved on to wireless networking, so no need for external ports for printers and such

Not a bad price though if you really need one.

You are right, most laptops nowadays equipped with WiFi cards and do not need this to access printers and drives.

In my case, my progear tablet comes with only one USB port, in order to use my GPS unit, I need something like serial on USB and this replicator is the prefect solution, plus it lets you use a keyboard and a mouse on the tablet.

Same seneraio for my Sony C1VN PictureBook.

Why not just get a USB hub? Almost everything these days is accessed via USB anyway, unless you have some really old stuff you want to use

Good deal tho. Kind of wondering how much information they can get through on a single USB port.

You get what you pay for...why shelve your IBM Model M in favor of some crappy $5 made-in-China keyboard just because the Model M is PS/2 and the $5 keyboard is USB? There are also modems, handhelds, and other devices that need serial ports to function.

That said, the closest Office Depot didn't even have a place on the shelf where this would go. If I could find one of these, it'd be useful with my notebook, since HP neglected to put PS/2 and serial ports on it.

Oh, I don't know, maybe someone who is smart enough not to go out and replace working peripherals?

That said, these external hubs are great. I used one so I could shut off the com & parallel ports on the PC and free up a few IRQ's for my PCI cards, and everything is sailing along smoothly.

I can also confirm no stock in Torrance, CA. (Three stores) and Manhattan Beach, CA. (One store). I would have loved one of these for my old Sony Vaio laptop. Thanks for the post anyway.

That's because they'er keep in "lock-up". Got one today for $24.95. Looks pretty nice.

I checked back there, too, and checked another store elsewhere in town...didn't see any in the glass cases in either store. Maybe I'll need to see if they can order one and have it shipped in.
