Task manager and RTVSCAN.EXE???????

Here is the problem, I was running WIN XP and Norton ANti Virus Corp, Edition 7.6. Out of the blue my system processess shoots up to 100% (mostly while surfing, also while idling). If I end the rtvscan (norton real time scan) process, it would never leave the list but the system process will drop back down to below 10% or somewhere in a normal range. Uninstalled norton, blew it out of the registry, reinstalled, same issue. I then upgraded to Corp edition 8, still same problem.

All while this is happening, when running task manager, it randomly crashes. Would anyone be able to give me any direction on what to try next?

My system specs are as follows:
P4 1.7
256MB ram
win XP home

If anyone needs additional information please let me know?

Open up Norton and check the scheduled scans. I know that at work my corporate edition Norton performs a full system scan in the background once a week. You might be experiencing slowdown because of this.

Is this your home machine or corporate desktop? Have you called NAV corporate support?

This is my home machine, I am hesitant to contact tech support fo this issue. I haved tried the knowledge base on their website. Not much help.

Curious, why are you running NAV corporate at home vs NAV consumer (is this a work laptop or something?) Are you able to LiveUpdate (or are you locked to your corporate server?), if so, have you checked for product updates in addition to def updates?

I came across a copy from a friend that is why I am using the corp at home, updating is not a problem.

So, basically your stealing it (from me no less) and want support with issues. Since your clearly not licensed for NAV corp anyhow, I suggest you run NAV consumer. The on-demmand scanner is newer in 03 and 04 than what your likely running.
