This doesn't make sense to me. How can the CPU temp as measured through TAT at idle be just a few degrees higher then ambient? Even an idling cpu is hot. I'm wondering if TAT isn't always accurate.

My TAT temps actually read 28-29 on core0 and 26-28 on core1. My ambient is measured with a thermometer sitting on top of the case. However my house temp is only 22C measured at the thermostat only about 20 feet away. Maybe it's just pulling cooler air than is being measured at the top of the case.
Coretemp agrees with with TAT within a couple of degrees. Usually shows both cores at 27 at idle. At full load, they are pretty much the same. Speedfan's Voltage2 (iirc, don't use it much) agrees as well.
It gets as high as 40-41C here in Texas, during the average summer, although I've seen 45C, but that's rare. Ever heard of Death Valley, California? It isn't rare at all for it to be 51-52C there, during the summer.Originally posted by: Roguestar

@Roguestar: LOL! I 'm not surprised you're shocked!! I was laughing when I read that people at Wimbledon were fainting at temps that were in the late 20's!! Last night was the coolest so far actually...21C!! During the day its above 30 and an night it dips to somewhere in the mid 20's...This translates to a dip in my CPU temps of about two degrees or so...But I like I posted elsewhere, I'm getting some aftermarket cooling hopefully soon and I'll post an update..
Hahaha, seriously last summer it hit 35°C and the government put out national health warnings! "Get off the streets or you'll die!"
