I have a question about the tax implications of a new employer (who doesn't yet offer health insurance) paying COBRA insurance premiums for someone to maintain his old employer's insurance benefits until a plan is established.
Some internet research seems to indicate that this arrangement can be structured in such a way to avoid classifying the premium payment as income. Do any of the resident accountants/ tax experts have any further insight on this issue and advice on how to handle the payments by the new employer? Thanks.
There is a Tax thread stickied here. Please post your federal tax issues in it. Our resident accountants/tax experts hang out there and, hopefully, can provide the answers for you.
