If you go to ebates.com there is a link for $25 off $75 at Office Depot. Use this link and then add Taxcut deluxe, Taxcut state, and Microsoft money to your cart. There are rebates on state, and money to make them free and there is a $5 rebate on Taxcut deluxe to make it $19.99.

So here are the basics:

Taxcut Deluxe $24.97
Taxcut State $24.99
MS Money Std $29.99
- $20 coupon from ebates
- $5 rebate
- $24.99 rebate
- $29.99 rebate
+ sales tax
-2% for ebates bonus

The coupon from ebates says it doesn't work for technology purchases, but it worked for me when I tried. I assumed software would be technology, but who knows?
There have been other deals like this recently, but I couldn't find any that were still valid.

Oops! The coupon is $20 off $75. Not $25 off $75 like I said in the first sentence. It was correct in the summary.

Excellent, been waiting for a free after rebate deal to come along. Do you have links to the rebates or are they in the boxes?

Thanks,
Wolverine

If you plan on filling electronically.. I would skip Taxcut and go with TaxAct (TaxAct.com). I used TaxCut last year because it was "free" after rebate. Then I learned they charged $14.95 to file electronically. So that free software ended up costing me more than TaxAct, not to mention it was a POS compared to TaxAct. TaxAct deluxe is only $9.95 and comes with a free E-file... or you can use Standard version for free (or use it and e-file for $8).

I was able to get TaxCut delux for $19.97 if I chose to pickup from the store instead of having it shipped. That makes the deal even sweeter.

All the rebates should be found inside the boxes.

TaxCut comes with a free e-file. It's a rebate.

As does Turbo Tax.
Personally, I've tried Taxcut and Turbo tax and I like Turbo Tax much better. Plus the fact that Turbo Tax "got" me more money back doesn't hurt

I went to the TaxCut site to see which version I need to file as self-employed. Their comparison chart doesn't mention Schedule C at all.

I found the following in their FAQ:
How do I determine if TaxCut supports a sole-proprietorship business return?
If you own a business, our TaxCut Premium Home and Business program can handle most partnership or corporation returns.

Kind of scary if they don't know that a partnership or corporation is different than a sole proprietorship.

Is Turbotax non-onerous this year? Will it import 2002 returns from TaxCut too?

Switching back and forth is a drag...

'My friend' has TaxCut 2003 Deluxe installed. It has the full alphabet soup of federal Forms and Schedules. There are a hundred or so. Of the Schedules, it shows A, B, C, D, E, F, H, J, K1, R, and SE. I typically file the 1040 long, B, C, D, E, K1, and 8582. So, TaxCut has worked for me every year, for about 5 years. If you want to see if it has any certain schedule or form, shoot me a PM, and I'll look it up.

You should be able to do everything with TaxCut Deluxe package. It looks like the TC Basic doesn't give you the $15 rebate on eFile, and the better packages probably just have additional tax planning and other bells and whistles. Plus, I just got off the "CHAT" program with the guy at the TaxCut site, and he showed me that they have a 60-day no questions return policy.

I used to be a TurboTax fan until intuit decided to screw everyone and put C-Dilla / "drm" in their package last year,
then I switched to TaxAct (free basic) because TaxCut's "privacy" policy didn't sit well with me.

I still don't like TaxCut's privacy policy, so does anyone know if TurboTax learned a lesson, and took the "drm" crap out
or are they still doing it? I'll give TurboTax one try at making amends, before I'm gone forever as a customer.

I'd recommend everyone look at TaxAct. They're not a big-name product, but I kinda like the underdog.

Has anyone taken a look at the invoice that comes with their order? I did in-store pickup, and while the online receipt that I printed shows a -$20 at the bottom, on the actual invoice, it's prorated to every item with a line showing what I "actually paid" for each title. Same when you look at the order status online after placing it.

Might this interfere with the amount received from the rebate to make the product "free?"

I saw that the 20 dollar discount was pro-rated when I was ordering online, but the invoice they sent me via e-mail does not prorate the 20 dollar coupon. So check your e-mail and every item should be the full price. I plan on using that invoice for my rebates,

FYI people - deduction pro (basically a program that tells you how much you can legally deduct for charitable donations) is also FAR with the purchase of taxcut (i think it's 19.99 OTD). SO -- if taxcut state would be useless to you you can consider substituting deduction pro

pps, i don't know why, but taxcut deluxe was showing up as 19.97 after i went to the final checkout screen (it's supposed to be 24.97 - 5 MIR).... so i'll check later, but if that $5 MIR exists that might make the deal a bit sweeter

re TurboTax , I don't care if they don't have cdilla this year, they deserve to be bitch-slapped for what they did last year.
No way am I going to reward them for what they did last year by buying from them this year. The only reason they took it out (cdilla, etc) was b/c they got caught and there was an uproar.
