I jacked it up and it seemed stable. I ran rc5 and it was fine for an hour and a half. Then I got a dnet client error, but was still able to ignore the problem and shutdown the client safely. Could this be because of heat or just the unstable setup with the tbird and mobo?
specs:
ka7 with RJ bios(hardly ever posted with the ry)
850 tbird
cpu v: 1.9
io v: 3.5
case cover is off and cpu is cooled with a slot A golden orb

FSB overclocking on Athlon is not the best option. If you use a Gold finger device, you could probably go higher then 995mhz.

wow nice speed!

Heh, you know it's odd how people can't get past 110.. I wonder if that's sortof built in, so that FSB overclocking doesn't negate the need for goldfingers..

The thing is, what makes me even more suspicious about that, is that they expect to get 133 no problem with the KX266, and AMD 760, 770, etc.. Something fishy is going on.. Anyone able to test this theory?

BTW, does that chipset (the KX133) have a /2 divisor for the AGP slot? what about the PCI?

You guys are all getting discouraged not being able to hit 110, it'd be funny if that's the reason why noone has tried ~133 and discovered something!

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that via claimed to have made the chipset like this so that the fsb doesn't oc well. I just was looking through the forums at amdzone and there were a few people who had the ka7 up to 136+ fsb. At 136 the pci divider automatically becomes 1/4 and the agp divides likewise. I tried this on my setup and no boot The people who had their fsb above 136 were using the ry bios or that ka7_42 beta bios, and most likely were water cooled. When I tried the other two bios the comp rarely booted. Strange thing is that most people only get the tbird to work on the ry or 42 bios. Weird stuff.

Oh, and cracking my athlon case gets me nervous, but once I get a gold finger I'll try to get the courage to do it

Get a Goldfinger....

I got one, but the problem is the FSB... If I have no GFD installed, I can get 112FSB running stable... Now I cannot get over 105 and I am not even sure if 105 is stable...

I have a ka7 (Rk) Other bios' don't work...
A K7 700 .18u but 1/2cache divider...

Now I put on a GFD (leufken) and All I can do is change the multipler to 8.0!!!

I have to drop the FSB from 112 to 104/105!?!?

What is that??? The temperature stays the same at any voltage, from 1.65 to 1.90...

Well is that normal... I checked the temperature in SiSoft Sandra...
It is 100.4...

Is there anything what I could do, to rase the FSB???

You could probably raise the clock speed of that Thunderbird by attaching a larger, dual-fan HSF setup on it, plus thermal paste/grease/goop.

I don't have a Tbird, but I do have a VOS 32...

I put the thermal paste on it too... Is the temperature too hot???

Manuel, try changing your ram settings. Your temp isn't that high. I'm running rc5 now and sandra says my temp is at 107. Oh and I think that the voltage on the gfd has to be the same as in the bios.
