well if you go up a tire size, then yes the tires will cost a bit more. you should go with 19s if you are upgrading the size, but I dont know if this is a commonly ran size for that car, check out the Scion Tc forums see what they are doing.

i have a feeling 18's on that car would have some unreasonable tire size like 215/35/18. i would go with the the 17's unless you can run a decent amount of sidewall on an 18. prices aren't likely to be that much different, but one may be a common size that is much cheaper than something a little less common (which may be necessary to keep the right rolling diameter).

You're probably ganna have to run tiny sidewall if you get the 18's which is stupid. Either keep the stockers and save money or get some nice 17's.

Have you consulted any tC forums to see if you'll rub with 18's and a drop? I would assume you might but I don't know the tC that well.

Lower it first and see what it does to close the gap and fill out the wheel well and decide from there.

I've seen a few tCs that look good with up 19" wheels, it all depends on the wheel. Some wheels look bigger or smaller than others of the same size. With black you could probably get away with bigger wheels and not look ghetto.

would bigger wheels make the gap smaller thus not necessarily needing the drop kit?

You can only go as big as the spring perch allows. By putting a lowering kit on it, the spring perch will raise closer to the top of the wheel well...giving you less room in there.

Go with the drop kit before rims.

I have the 18s on my tC. They're 225, 40. The tires do cost a little more. I felt the 17s ride a little smoother.

He's actually right. I also don't think 18's will look good on that car.
