Man! With all the talk about Buy.com's stock price being low, the stepping down of their CEO, stock problems, and comparisons to Valueamerica, I'm getting jittery... I don't want to lose Buy.com... hehehe damn, I've gotten so many good deals from them. And they have one of the best customer service groups around. But if I see any more trouble signs, I'm just going to pick the damn thing up with the $20 off coupon or ask a friend to get it with the $30 off coupon, forget waiting for the $30 off and free shipping...

Any one else have any thoughts on this?

Still doing my $30 off coupon for returning customers and free shipping dance... DANCE DANCE DANCE!

I found the rebate coupons at Circuit City website and printed them out. Is it legit to use printed out coupons like this?

The laserjet printed coupons are kind of fuzzylooking on the actual coupon portion... is this ok? or is there a better way to print these out?

Also, what is the $20 buy.com coupon. For first time buyers? I already bought book from them... does that disqualify me?

Dcdomain: What is the $30 rebate for returning customers all about?

Hey, just checking to be sure of everything before I plunk my money down. Makes sense but I want to be totally sure. The coupon itself printed out kind of fuzzy and the fine print portion is barely readable.

Anyway, what is the deal about buy.com $30 coupon for returning customers...

And where do I find out info on $20 on first time buy.com customers. I fished around but didn't find anything

techwanabe:

To answer your questions, the $20 off coupon can be found at www . tech bargains . com get rid of the spaces, at the site, look at the right side, near the bottom, there is a list of a bunch of coupon codes. If you are a new Buy.com customer, they currently have a $30 off coupon for new customers only. From time to time, they also have $30 off coupons for returning customers. Although those are very rare. Many of us here in the forum have already bought from Buy.com, so unless we get a new customer to buy for us, we'll have to settle for the $20 off coupon for returning customers, or wait for the new $30 off coupon.

Are you guys apsolutely sure that I can use the circuit city rebate form? Someone said that you needed some part from the front of the box. what if the ones from buy.com don't have this thing on their box? What about staples? do they have this drive that you could order offline and get a30 or 40 coupon and free shipping on 50 or more and still get the rebate from circuit city?

If anyone is still on the fence about this I spoke with a Buy.com rep today and they said their stock of this popular is almost gone and they don't know when they'll get more. So JUMP ON THIS!

Or can you say "Backorder"?

DefRef is correct, have a friend or family member place an order for you then you can use the Buy.com $30 off $150 new customer coupon. I have my sister's debit/credit card numbers written down, I use her info to place the order, ship it to me then re-imburse her for the amount she was debited. Easy as pie.

techwanabe - The Buy.com $20 off $100 coupon is all FOR (new and existing) customers.

How do you use both the $30 coupon and Free shipping? My shopping cart says I have to remove one.

Check this out for tops in the STUPID department:

Ordered TDK/50 spindle for $242 shipped with taxes and $30 coup. This was on Saturday. On Sunday I read the BestBuy flyer and see I can get it for $230 with tax after $50 rebate and $30 instant gift card. I figure hell, I will have it today and a 50 spindle is roughly worth $20, so no big deal.

The reciept from BB reads $299 paid. I sent in the rebate slip already. The gift card shows nowhere and I had to fight with the manager to get it. I cancel with Buy.com online and it ships anyway. It gets here today and I stupidly refuse shipment.

It occurs to me after that I could have returned the one from Buy.com to BB for a full $299 refund and would have gotten to keep the gift card and still gotten the rebate. I difference here of about $75.

In essence, I could have gotten the TDK for approximately $162 including tax and kept the spindle

I could have taken the $300 from BB and paid off the Buy.com $242 on my CC and then recieved a $50 rebate.

If anyone wants to try this - $162 for the TDK

Damn Larryjoe, mad work... but worth a try! A BestBuy just opened in a town next to me. I might give that a try when I go home for Thanksgiving.

Rossman, thanks for the heads up. I was one of them straddlers, and feel much better now after ordering the drive.

When I went to checkout and saw the Passport link, I got all excited thinking there was another 20% I could use since Mercata and 800.com both had the same Passport 20% off deal. Tried... didn't work. Shoot... guess Buy.com didn't join in on the promotion...

Nemeth27... Buy.com coupons are sort of weird. It's not a code, and it's not automatic (or they'd be in deep water by now). Basically, the easiest way to get a coupon is go to ... either www.tech bargains.com (no space between tech and bargains) and find the coupon on the bottom right side of the page. Click on the one you want.. and it'll bring you to the coupon page. Click to redeem it, and it should be in your shopping cart, before you go checkout. You can also try www.bens bargains.net (no space between bens and bargains), he lists the coupons on the top right of the page.

I ordered the deal. I hope this works out. I printed out the rebate form. It doesn't say a word about it having to be bought from circuit city but it does say a copy of the printed cash register receipt and this online order not give a cash register receipt. If this doesn't work I will be upset and this deal will be a GOOD BIT less worth my efforts and money. Does anyone know for sure that thisr ebate will work with a online order. If it wont maybe I can still get it canceled. Thanks anyway

Yeh, I'm pretty sure it's a rebadged Plextor. The specs are exactly the same... in addition, when I first told my friend about the Velocd when it first made it's debut, he asked his father about it (who happens to be the accountant for TDK) and was told that TDK didn't manufacture the burner themselves...
