Cyber Tiger, the Yamaha doesn't have burnproof. It does have 8mb cache,
but it still isn't as good as burnproof.

OK--for all of you who have already purchased from Buy.com--This is the way to get the 30-off-150 coupon.
Create a new account using a different credit card number AND email address. Email addresses are all over the place.
As for the credit cards...I personally have a cash card from two banks and then credit cards to cover both accounts--Two accounts, but FOUR credit card numbers.
Another option is to use the AMEX Private Payments option--but you have to have an AMEX card. Have not tried this approach yet.

With regard to the Circuit City $50 rebate coupon:

Many are stating that it can be used when purchasing the TDK 12x10x32 CDRW drive from other places such as BUY.COM. Well, I'm reading the "fine print" on the Circuit City coupon I printed out and it the states following,

"What qualifies as a sales receipt? 1) The "Order Confirmation" you receive online at the conclusion of placing your order; or 2) The "Order Confirmation" email we send you confirming your order; or 3) The Sales Receipt you receive in our store"

The context of the first two options is from Circuit Cities website (good assumption) and the second one makes it clear that a Circuit City store receipt is needed (says "our store&quot.

So everyone who is so quick to say you can print out Circuit Cities coupon and use it from Buy.com purchases or others, I am really doubting this. I recommended to my boss that she buy it based on the coupon discount which I now highly doubting will work. I may now be in the postion of recommending she return the item if she doesn't want to pay full Buy.com price. BTW, I saw here order confirmation and there was no first time discount either. Full price paid will likely be $276 shipped. Anyone care to respond? Has anyone confirmed that this Circuit City coupon will actually work on a Buy.com purchase?

bikman et al, I sure hope I have led no astray on the MIR. The TDK CSR asked her supervisor about buying the burner at any place besides Circuit City assured me this was MIR would work. Damn and for once I didn't get a name either.

FWIW, www.megahaus.com also notes a $50 rebate on the TDK drive... just search for it there. The rebate that is on Circuit city's website is fuzzy but it does not mention anything about circuit city although it does mention original form.

I ordered one and if I don't get the rebate, I will call TDK. I would bet that they would honor it. Don't bother dealing with the rebate processing company.

Don't forget that right now buy.com has free shipping until the end of the week, not to mention you can go through ebates and get 3% off your order total. $248.95 - $15 coupon - $50 rebate - 3% + free shipping = $178.43! Not bad for a drive as good as the Plextor but cooler looking Ordered mine today!

I was in a B&amp;M Beast Buy yesterday and the TDK tag on the shelf touted the $50 rebate. Also, the TDK web site mentions the deal. It good from ANYWHERE.

Forgot about the ebates. Oh well, 181 isn't bad for the drive provided that TDK pulls through on the rebate. I enlarged the rebate form and read the fine print... it says nothing about Circuit City or using a duplicate form. However, step 2 says, &quot;Enclose this original, filled out form...&quot;.

I called the number on the rebate and it is TDK so I feel confident that they will honor it since other are advertising the rebate as well.
