These are Certified Plus CDR's and are silvery green on the bottom with the usual TDK top with little dots and the curved title at the top. As soon as I get CD R Identifier working I'll try and update.

Too bad no printable as store should have the TDK's Thursday.

I found a couple of the black top spindles "made in Japan" at my local Staples -- I think these are the taiyan yudos. They were buried in the back of the shelf. YMMV

Ya, they are made in Japan. I just picked up Fuji from BB otherwise this was a good deal.

The ones I got didn't have the screw on the top and are made in Taiwan.

anyone know a good link to the rebate form? the one linked on staples.com you can barely read, and you can't read any of the fine print at all.

I went through the rebate center and filled out the Staples form. I noticed however that the zip read 78502 instead of the TDK/Staples one which read 78501. Odd but shouldn't make a difference. I used 78502. Don't forget it's one rebate per envelope. It's easier to do this online through the rebate center because you can type it.

I bought three from Staples.com and all three are different.
One was made in Japan, one in Taiwan and the last in Mexico.
I planned on giving one to my nephew so he gets Mexico.
2 have the screw top one did not. The one that didn't was from Taiwan.

Before I bought these I went to my local store and got the rebate slips there.
I made sure it said three per person, one per envelope.
I would have just bought them in the store, but they didn't have any.

i read oos on the website.
but found em at the local staples for 19.99 (mine had a price tag for $14.99 so i saved there) and got a $10 rebate. no $7 off instantly at the local store that i went to. just bought 2, since i still have a spindle left over from the 4 fuji spindles for really cheap from OMax deal like a year ago.
they were made in japan, interestingly enough, the tdks were the only ones on the shelf that was actually made in japan. sony, ibm, memorex etc all were made in taiwan (sony and IBM ones also cost a lot more..) i don't know how much better made in japan ones are, but it just feels better using a made in japan label.

If you filled out your rebate request online, the rebate address is incorrect. I just spoke with customer service.
Originally I filled out the online form and it says to send all paper work to:

If you print out the mail in form, it directs you to send the forms to:

Both addresses are INCORRECT!!!

screw top, made in Japan, and CDR-Identifier reads them as Taiyo Yudens.
