HiVal deal doesn't look so good now. No burn-proof listed in specs and only 2mb buffer! :Q Sounds like *coaster city* with that one. The TDK is BP, but still only 2mb buffer. Link

you won't notice any difference w/ the tdk BP w/ 2 MB of buffer. this burner is the best. it burns full cd in less than 3.5 minutes and that's with the cpu extracting a full 700 mb movie to the HD at the same time. Never had a problem with it.

Now I'm REALLY not happy with my $149.00 -$30 MIR purchase from BB. Not only was there a $50.00 MIR(from BB even) 2 weeks after I bought it- now CompUSA puts the icing on the cake!

This is a killer price on a great CD-RW.

anybody know if there's anything that the plextor 40x does better than this tdk 32x drive? (besides the speed of course)

i still use my plextor 8/20 scsi cdr and love it, so i was wondering if plextors are still best in everything or if it's all pretty much the same nowadays. thx

I had a SCSI Plextor CD-RW and the "burnproof" technology IDE drives put it to shame. Never a coaster. If you are asking about the IDE Plextors(which I haven't owned)... this CD-RW is comparable.

NO ONE can touch the digital audio extraction (DAE) of TDK drives, this one in particular. If you do a lot of ripping, you MUST get a TDK. My TDK easily rips twice as fast as my Plex.
