Republicans and tea baggers have never been serious about cutting government, only cutting taxes.

Dick Cheney's mantra about 'deficits don't matter' really is what most Republicans in power believe.

My prediction is a Democrat will get elected to clean up the mess and then the GOP will blame him\her for the mess and for being a pinko, commie, tax, and spend liberal.

Facing a huge budget deficit when he took office in January, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano did not impose a hiring freeze. He did not stop borrowing to subsidize some of the richest school districts in the country. He did not eliminate the Police Department’s beloved mounted unit.

Instead, Mr. Mangano, a Republican who won one of the first upsets of the Tea Party era, did what he had promised: He cut taxes, adding $40 million to the county’s deficit, which has since reached nearly $350 million.

Now, with its bonds suddenly downgraded and a state oversight agency preparing to seize its checkbook and credit cards, Nassau is on the verge of a full-fledged fiscal crisis.

the problem with that idea is the middle class will become so decimated that it will take a century for it to recover if ever....

It isn't an "idea" it is pure arithmetic. You can cheat for a while but eventually the math always wins. At that point you still have to take the original pain plus all the added pain from trying to cheat.

Like I said, it is going to happen regardless. The only question is how much worse are we going to make it and who is going to be the decider on when we take it.

Any Tea-Partiers want to defend this?

It seems to me that you need to pay off debts and cut spending BEFORE you reduce your income.

As far as I can tell Tea Baggers and Tax cutting conservatives only give lip service to balancing budgets.

Excuse it by dragging out the old "lowering taxes increases revenues" nonsense, then "proving" it with some hack economist.

As Disraeli said " there are lies, damn lies, and statistics"

They always campaign on Having Your Cake and Eating it Too.

Those actions will destroy what little demand is left for our economy. So basically your shooting the horse in the head instead of mending its leg....

thats some good math...

Try voting for the person instead of the party.

Voting for the party allows you to easily look at the idiot in the mirror

This is probably caused by excessively overpaid union employees. So just fire all these union people. This is a rampant problem on the east coast. It is time to tell the unions to go to hell. Why should taxpayers allow unions for public workers?

Just start firing people in the unions and maybe they will take a pay cut. If not fire them all and hire some people who are willing to work for less. If it is a legal problems start providing services through government contracts to the lowest bidder.

Actually this is fairly consistent with Tea Partiers. Tea party scumbags want their government programs (see Medicare/SS), but hate taxes. I say take away their government cheese and see these whiners squirm like the worms they are.

Edit: Actually let me slightly amend that, Tea Partiers want government programs only FOR THEMSELVES (see how old most of their members are), everyone else can go fuck themselves. Oh sure, they love their medicare, but if we want something for the rest of the population? Pffft. They are the greediest assholes i've ever seen.

You scapegoat public employees belonging to unions and then you wonder why unions for them need to exist? Classic.

Then stop the election boards from having a straight ticket.

How does that prevent one for voting for an individual? A person is nominated and filtered ouit by primaries and/or petitions. Are you implying that an election board will play with the results of a vote?

I have never seen a ticket has just the party and not the individual.

In fact, I have never seen any voting system that allows you to choose for a block other than the Pres/VP as a unit. that goes for Congressional, state, local and "amendments/propositions/questions"

If you can provide an example, please do so.

The guy did what he campaigned on.

It was the public that accepted his stand/platform.

Let the public now follow through and either demand that spending be cut and/or find other revnue to get the county budget back on track.

What one wishes for may not be the best option.

After the Gore V Bush battle how can you ask such a loon question?
Kathryn Harris said it was her duty to mess with the vote for her party.

I don't know where you vote but most of the states I've lived in you can select a Republican ticket button and automatically selects all Republican ticket or Democrat, Libertarian etc except the write in of course.

politics are the same, it doesnt matter what party is running the show. the repugs suck, the dems suck.

people who wave the flag of their party like its God and truly believe that their party is better than the other one really makes me think they are mentally ill.

So I should be able to verify this in Georgia, Lousanna and Oklahoma?

Governor and Lt. Governor.

Some are party together, others have seperate races that are not linked.

Many states have a governor of one party and Lt Governor of another.

One reason why Obama did not select certain governors for his team - loss of the governorship to the Repubs.
