Look here, please!

___ TA daily _____ Free-DC daily _______ TA production _______ Free-DC production
___ average _______ average __________ last 28 days __________ last 28 days____
_ 712 732 Mpts __ 2 055 282 Mpts ______ 18 654 954 Mpts ______ 58 454 668 Mpts

This is a race. Not offcially announced, but still, they race past us soon.
Unless we marshall some more crunching power and start producing much more.

So, all TA-crunchers, please join the effort. TAS has already voted DPAD as the project for March - we will add our output and top it as much as we can.

We have some great crunchers around ... could YOU join too?

Team Anandtech needs all crunchers in DPAD!

Yes, we could use some help here, even adding one machine will help. I know there are a lot of members on this team but we really need some people to step up and put a computer on DPAD.

Please, oh please come give us a hand folks. If I can figure it out, surely you all can.

ANY questions on how to set up DPAD, feel free to ask here. It really is pretty easy.

cheers,

I support TeAm Anandtech fully, but I won't help eliminate our existance.
I'm ignorant of all the facts, but the thought of creating black holes scares me. Yes, I know that science has already created one on a very small scale for a brief period of time, but the thought still scares me.

Finding aliens might get us killed too.

I was going to run the benchmark on this 2nd comp. When i moved it over from my main comp, Avast alerted me, saying it contained a trojan (Win32:Qukart-Z) & i quarentined it.
I've run AV scans on both comps(AntiVir on my main one, Avast on the other) & Spybot on both so far.
I downloaded the benchmark directly from the DPAD site. I'm hoping it just a false positive. I know in the past Avast has given me a false positive with a F@H file.
Anyone recall any reports about it? I haven't had time to look on the DPAD forums yet.

I'll check out Muon Cockpit, thanks

Which benchmark proggie was it? I run AVG with current updates and didn't get any warnings.

Please check it again. Saying something DC-related contains a virus is a great way of getting people turned off of DC.

Muon1Bench - it's on the "Utilities" section of the front page here.

I'm not saying this is a trojan for sure, i'm just asking if anyone's heard of this before, as i haven't had the time to look thru the DPAD forums myself yet.
I know when Avast alerted me about a problem with F@H, it ended up there was info about the false poitive report on the F@H forum, so it ended up not being a problem at all, just a known issue.

I have Avast on all my computers, and am (or have previously been) running DPAD on all of them.
I have not had any problems with any warning. Checked 3 of my systems now with Windows Defender, AdAware Pro, Spyware Search and Destroy and ZoneAlarm Pro (the one with the spyware detector) and have not had any positive sign ...

Should be a false sign, or something else ...

It's not a problem with the client itself, just the benchmark program. Have you run that on your computers?

I also ran the benchy prog on my PC, and didn't get any alarm. I also think that a DC project sponsored by so many official institutions just can't allow itself to contain a virus/trojan.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes I have: no problems with Avast on 8 computers.

[OT: One comp shut down due to ... overheating: leaking capacitators, mobo has gone to mobo-heaven after more than 5 years of 24/7 service.). We crunchers really run out comps hard: maxumum load for more than 95% of the time, for more than 45 000 hours.]

I have - after communicating with Spacehead - retried to download the current version of the benchmarking program. It triggered the viruswarning from Avast AV-program (see posts above).

When looking in my directories I saw that the version I have run before has a slightly different file-size than the current version - it is 8 KBytes larger. If this is a version difference or an infection I do not know. I have not checked other virus scanneers.

Please forgive me the previous communication. I should have checked the current download - not the old one.

I'll look in the DPAD-forum if there is a mention about this, if not, I'll write a post ...

I've also rechecked with AntiVir this morning & updated Ad-Aware & ran a complete scan & found nothing. So AntiVir, Ad-Aware & Spybot all come up clean.
I'looked thru some of the thread topics on the DPAD forum but didn't notice anything about this.
I'm inclined to think Avast is reporting a fasle positive but i just wanted to be sure.

I have checked (tried downloading the file) with Norton AV - on one of my kid's computers - it does not react at all.
Lets see what happens ...

I tried it with trend micro...no problems. The avast anti-virus on my secondary machine claimed it found a trojan with the aforementioned file.
