I'll give this a bump since I just noticed that my cache on OK's queue is down to its last lonely WU.

Baldy - you might consider installing Setidriver on your machines and point them to OK's for extra WUs when it gets bad like now. This is assuming they are running windoze.

Actually many of us, Baldy included, are running their own private SetiQueues, and pointing them to one of the TeAm public Qs. Generally it's the best system, as it keeps a local stash just for you, and grabs from one of the bigger pools.

Max - I do the same with a buddy on dialup who flushes through my queue. Just have to make the queues bigger I'm afraid.

Yes, I do run my own SetiQ at my house but then I also have remote machines at friend houses and such that are set up with setidriver. So I have some protection except there are 14 computers that I installed the otehr day using the flex installer and since it doesn't have caching ability yet I'm screwed with those. One of them turned in a work unit 55 mintes ago but my cache at OK's is empty so it didn't recieve a new unit. I can't get to my remote machines to change them to a different Q or anything so I'm just going to have to sit back and watch as half my fleet erodes to nothing or hope that OK can get filled up or trasfers some from another cache for me. So far though only 1 computer is without any work units.

Anytime. Things are still quite slow right now, but I'm hoping that will change late tonight.

I want to suggest to all Queue Masters to make sure to download as many WUs as possible whenever the pipe opens up, cause we never know when another major draught like this will occur or how long it'll last.

ACK!!!!! OK's is up to ~3800 waiting to upload and I'm really getting constipated myself. I think maybe 2 uploaded to Berkeley so far since ~3am EST.

Thank goodness I have 2 weeks worth. I have been in this project long enough to remember times like this!!! :|

I just noticed this and maybe it would help us get more WUs through. I set my SETIQueue last night to be conected between 2am-1:59am so that it would always be connected. When I woke up this morning I discovered that there were 6 results not sent in and also to my surprise, the queue wasn't even connected.:Q Just a couple minutes ago I hit the connect button and set it to connect for 4 hours and as I am typing this it is downloading a new unit. Hit your connect buttons everyone!

Ok maybe it didn't fix everything. It uploaded one result and downloaded 2 and now it is back to all that waiting crap. Still everyone should be aware and check to make sure that their Q is connected.

That sounds more like the cap on their outbound traffic that they talk about so much, which I figured was never as much problem as their inbound...

You need to contact the queue owner and have them move some WUs into your queue manually if this was your first time connecting to them. Normally the queue is empty when you connect for the first time.

And, re:just getting WUs down and not sending back thru a public queue. This is just a one-time shot as I've a big cruncher that's plumb run out of WUs and I can't get any, myself, right now. Call me greedy.

OR, is there a way to transfer a few WUs from one client on my private queue to another? To correct this empty cache on that one PC?

I don't see there being a lot of manual work involved in that method. It would be a lot of work if the Queue owner deleted the downloaded workunits from the database. If you just let them go though and remain as overdue workunits your skymap wouldn't be as pretty but it would still function fine and wouldn't require any intervention. Also I'm not at home right now so I can't look myself but isn't there an option to delete all overdue workunits at once. Maybe you do that and then one of those units does get returned from another client it wouldn't be a big deal it just wouldn't count in the stats or something I would guess.

Well, the last thing I want to do is cause grief or an anomaly in someone's public queue and its stats so I'll just live with this one down for a bit.

Hmmm...looking thru the WU000000xx.ini files, it appears I might be able to "transfer" a WU to another PC...but...I'd like to hear from someone else first, if that's ever been tried. Would sure hate to lose even one WU right now!

conjur, if I understand correctly, you have 2 PCs connecting to your private SetiQ, each with their own Q, and one of them has run out of WUs? If that's the case, all you have to do is go to the web interface, login, the click tools, then "Move WUs from one Q to another", then click the source Q, then the destination Q, then the number of WUs, and voila!

If I understood your problem wrong, well, I tried
