Very nice, clean and almost new. And a new DVD with a 52-inch plasma screen. Yummy!

/sitting down in the sofa, drinking a nice cup of jet-black colombian coffee ... ahhhh.

First time I've noticed the "Break Room", been too busy with upgrades at work this summer to visit the forums much. At least I'm finished and can get back to a regular schedule now.

I bought this a little over a year ago. I bought one for a wedding present for someone who drinks pressed coffee and they love it. I drink to much coffee and if you do to you might want to look into one of these.

Maybe we should get one for the break room!

The BOSS grumbled a little but then realized our morale was too important.

It's right over there next to the white, confectionery, sweet-n lo, equal, etc.

It's so dang hot, I'm going for the ice tea.

Well it seems I may have lost a xeon processor, and a scsi raid card, The good news is that I now have 4 scsi 15 36lp drives

the 1700 is now upgraded to a 40 gb drive and a tnt2 card 64mb iirc and a gig of ram, also added a dvd drive.(it stays here untill my brother in laws next visit woot)

my 3.2 is now sporting a x800 pro, scsi drives that I cannot get to format lol and an audigy2zs, as well as 1.5gb of ram and a dvd burner.

anyone point me to a 36lp pinout that shows how to change the id numbers so I can try them on the same cable and see if the card has a bad channel?

Ah ... thanks for the hot cup of joe.

Mike

Mike

Why not try this this document? .

Or Try this page with several docs!

or parhaps this is good enough.

Thank you those links are much better than what I found.

They "break it down" to my level

All mine are set the same, which confirms my suspicion that the id is the culprit.

I assume any jumpers will work as long as they fit?

another question ...

could the drives sharing the same id on different channls cause problems also?

I will try moving the card to a lower location as well.

Formatting the drives worked for one, but the other finishes formatting, but still says the drive needs formatting, 6 attempts had the same results.

Hi Wolfsraider,
In my experience a card has to have a unique set of IDs for each drive connected to it. I have a 2-channel card and use all different IDs - and that works well. I have 4 HD, a CD-rom reader, a DVD-reader, a CD-RW, a DVD-writer and a tape-drive - all with different IDs.
Then about formatting: In my experience - and this may be outdated - it may be best if you low-level format the HD which gives you formatting errors. For the low level format you can use the utility which is in the EPROM of the SCSI-card and which you can reach (at least in Adaptec cards) by pressing Ctrl-A during the boot sequence - the card may even prompt you for that.
If you have any more Q please feel free to PM and we can pool our knowledge and experience ...

Edit: spelling...

Found a few old Computers at work today. One multimedia and three servers.

The Servers look pre WW2 and the Multi media is an old Packard Bell.......How long has it been since PB sold 'puters here in the USA? One server, a Compaq, has two scsi drives in it. the others are parts'd out, except for some boards, psu's, processors and memory. Anyone interested in this stuff let me know. I'll get some specs and bring 'em to break Monday.

OK you guys ...make some room at the beer cooler.
