Using 174.16 vista 64 forceware drivers

Everytime I open up steam, and load the game, I get the music intro, then the screen with the guys on it, and it minimizes me to vista desktop. I still hear the music, but can not maximize to get back into the game. Very annoying problems. Anyone ever experience, or have a fix?

Just a shot in the dark, you aren't running Folding@Home are you? I've had the same problem with other programs and that was the culprit.

I am currently having this same issue. I don't know what is going on.

Currently running Vista 64 SP1. I ran TF2 just fine prior to installing SP1 so I think that might have something to do with it. Can anyone confirm?

I'm having this problem, running vista 64 sp1 and I do have dual monitors. Running ultramon, but it used to run fine with the same everything. I'm not sure what I installed or changed that may have caused the bug...

Mine's kind of different though. It's as if it's minimizing and maximizing one right after the other. I can't use any other windows or anything. If I open up the task manager ctl+alt+del then it stops going back and forth. Then I cna usually restore tf2 after a minute and it's fine...

Any ideas?

I used to have this problem, vista 64 sp1. I haven't noticed it lately. It could be because I added -novid to the launch options to stop the intro movies.

Did this happen with any previous drivers? I've never had such a problem.
I'm at work so I don't know what drivers I have installed.

this happens to me in all the rigs that ive had with vista. The solution is that when you open the game, dont press anything else but esc. If you press enter or the right mouse button it will start to minimize/maximize. If it starts going beserk just press cntrl+alt+del to open up that screen. Press cancel and tf2 would be minimized by then. Just click it to reopen it. Its a problem that valve needs to fix just like how vista gives you an error qhen you quit the game.

I just came across a posting on affinity's blog that mentioned that fix. Trying it out and so far so good.

I tried upgrading my video driver (8800GTX) and that worked once but then back to the minimizing maximizing business... I think it was just a fluke. Luckily it's not a problem that can't be worked around. Just a huge annoyance. As mentioned earlier ctrl+alt+del to minimize works well, and then you can just restore the window after you close the task manager.
