Thanks for the info. TNOGuy posts here every so often, he's a good guy! You guys have also helped Anandtech members in need from time to time, so TNO gets a big thumbs up in my book.

" I'll testify to a tough job market.

Back in mid-July, I lost a long-term contract with a long-term healthcare company due to budget cutting. I have been looking since (this is on top of going through a divorce, too). My house will be on the market in a week or two but I have no choice...even on food stamps at this point but that's not enough. I have to thank my family and some close friends but they've done all they can do at this point. I've had many interviews but no offers. From my search at monster.com, flipdog.com, and careerbuilders.com it seems if I was able to move to Indy, Cincy or Columbus, I'd be in good shape but I cannot leave Louisville because of my situation (sharing custody w/my girls every other week).

I'll tell ya...it's enough to make car sales look good at this point! Seriously.... "

Don't feel so bad dude! Many ppl has gone thrue this and not so many mths ago i lost my land, house, and a lot of my computers cause i was layed off work. In SC you have to be marrid just to get food stamps. Thank God for the money I'm now getting from the state or i prob did something not so good already. Anyways hopes you ppl can get a job and such it's sad that such great ppl has to go thrue this.

It's still tough out there, for me anyway...about to have the car repo'd and only weeks from foreclosure on the house (praying I get an offer from a buyer before that happens and that it closes quickly).

Anyway....

While searching for jobs at nationjobs.com I came across a link to this thing called a Personal Data Center

That site has, imo, a great way to show your experience and quiz yourself on common interview questions (and provide responses) and have that all show on a personalized website that can be sent to prospective employers.

FWIW, here's my Personal Data Center

If you have experience working with Xerox printers, please feel free to PM me.

I'm sorry, but I have no other details(contract, perm, etc) at this time, and someone from HR asked me this on Tuesday.

Just an update on the job websites I've been checking. These are all pretty much technical/IT jobsites but some offer jobs in other professional areas:

Adecco Technical
Ajilon Consulting
Brilliant People
Careerbuilder
ComputerJobs
ComputerWork
FlipDog
Dice
HotJobs
Manpower Professional
Monster
NationJob
Robert Half Technology
Volt
Greater Louisville Works
Kentucky Jobs
MyCareerNetwork (Kentucky)
Queen City Jobs (Cincinnati)

Hope that helps someone (and don't apply to jobs I've already applied for either! )

2 interviews in one day? Are they both at Sears? Things are starting to pick up. I have an interview Friday morning.

One at Sears, one for a township for an IT helper job. Got a call back from sears already. I would rather take the IT job, but Sears is good too. Get the foot in the door first, then worry about the rest later

Congrats, Evadman!

Best of luck with the interview, Dmcowen!

I had an interview Tuesday afternoon, I don't think it went that well.

Still plugging away trying to get some more interviews.

Laid off (outsourced) since July 2002, looking for anything, preferably in IT. Contacts are the name of the game and I'm not very well connected, obviously. Would like some field service work or Jr. Admin posistion.

I'm A+ certified and hope to have my N+, in a couple of months. Extra study, before dropping the $180. Then on to the microsoft certs.

Any and all leads in the Tulsa, Ok area, appreciated.

Thanks!

Now I have a job offer in Houston (my hometown), and no way to even get down there! This economy really sux, I just pawned my laptop for food for my 3 kids...

Ps: Anyone in Houston got a place to put up a family in need???

Anyone in the Houston area in here that can possibly help out?

Again, I find myself looking for a new job. I had a good job, but when the owner decided to pay you when "he can" or "when he wants too" it starts to get a little uncomfertable.

So, today I post my msg on this thread for hopes of having someone in my area (Minneapolis/St. Paul) that may have some info for me.

I hope to have an updated Resume up soon...

Thanks

Wolfie

EDIT:
Resume added here....

Bummer Wolfie.

My brother had a job like that, payroll check bounced, promised to pay. He had to cut his losses and look elsewhere too.

I'm Matt and I lost my job yesterday. I'm currently in Alexandria, VA. I would prefer not to relocate if at all possible. I'm excellent with PC hardware and some server aspects as well, though all Windows based. I'm easy to get along with and work well with all kinds of people. I don't have any paper certs, but I do have over 5 years of troubleshooting my own PC as well as those of others. As a bonus, I have an active secret security clearance. I'm looking for something in the 40's (cost of living up here is sick!) Please, no offers for NMCI positions. Email me if you're interested why.
