There are so many talented people both in IT and not in IT out of work in this Fallout of the Dot Com crash.

This thread is to use as a central Networking hub if you will during this crisis. Thanks to the Mods for stickying this important tool

If you are one of the massive amounts of people place a post in here of where you are from and updates on how it is going. It would show trends of how things are in particular areas of the Country.
Update: This thread is now also in the Off Topic forum area, for best possible results check both areas.

If you are currently working and know of job openings either see if allowed to post (Some crazy Corporate Lawyer may claim DMCA violation of you don't get permission
) or PM a person in your area.

I'm David McOwen (Atlanta , Georgia) and many people here know my situation but I may have lost my job anyway as I was working in the Telecom sector which has fallen off big time.

I this works and lands just one job here then it is a success. Good luck all.

Edit:

Thanks Fobot, keep em coming everybody

nOcZMonkey has offered to start up a forum that people can post what they are looking for and also that people know of a job opening post that info

DnetMHZ is starting up a web page that would be a clearinghouse or an instant snapshot of whats out there.

You're doing great things everyone, hope this helps.

Hi, my name is Ray, Columbus, Ohio, and I've become an IT statistic.....

Position was terminated due to Corporate restructuring on the 11th of November......

I'm looking for an Project Management position, either in IT or software development.
Due to some personal constraints, I'm not able to re-locate at this time, so it will have to be a position in or around Columbus, Ohio.

Manhattan Chase, Nationwide Insurance and Bank One have positions opening up, mostly programmer/analyst and project manager types, but there may be some IT jobs as well.

Do a search on Careerbuilder for the listings.

Also some jobs available for the State of Ohio, Here

My name is Garry, moving to just outside London, UK at the weekend (30th November)

I currently (until Friday) work at a small local business, building, upgrading and repairing computer systems. I have a CCNA qualification, however, unfortunately in my current job i have been unable to put this knowledge to use (other than making CAT5 cables ). I am therefore looking for a role in networking, however similar positions to the one I am currently in would also be good

I have working knowledge of Windows 2000/XP, and also of networking, thanks to my CCNA qualification, and am always willing to learn. In my current position I have had to do many different roles, from building up computers, to answering technical support calls on the phone, and via email/letter, as well as helping out people who have questions in the small retail outlet. I have also worked in this retail outlet, dealing with the general public.

I am not entirely looking to relocate, however if the opportunity arose, i think i would be willing to move, and i would love to get the chance to work and live in another country.

I have a full valid UK driving licence, with no convictions or tickets, and a clean criminal record (to my knowledge ).

Hi, I am Dave, and I am an Alc.... Whoops, whong thread

I am Dave, and live in the Chicagoland area in Illinois.

Currently looking for an entry level IT job doing anything from coffee getting to system install and upkeep, to actual IT work I would also be happy to land a job in retail computer sales ( I love retail ) or in a shipping/recieving deptartment somewhere. Basicly, I want to get my foot in the door, them move up from there since I have no Certs or formal education what-so-ever. I am currently learning about web application servers and their uses and how to deploy them. Currently unable to relocate, so any position will have to be in the Chicagoland area. Looking for a hourly wage in the $11-14 range.

Good idea Dave!

This would be for the Kent District Library where I currently work here in Michigan. Unfortunately, neither I nor my two colleagues currently have the qualifications for this position, but we do need it filled 'cuz we're gonna get REALLY busy in January. KDL is a pretty good place to work - I've been here for 7 years so far.

good googly! i can do this in a heartbeat!

...doh! i gotta take a big paycut for this job! :frown: this IS a hot deal!!

I'll testify to a tough job market.

Back in mid-July, I lost a long-term contract with a long-term healthcare company due to budget cutting. I have been looking since (this is on top of going through a divorce, too). My house will be on the market in a week or two but I have no choice...even on food stamps at this point but that's not enough. I have to thank my family and some close friends but they've done all they can do at this point. I've had many interviews but no offers. From my search at monster.com, flipdog.com, and careerbuilders.com it seems if I was able to move to Indy, Cincy or Columbus, I'd be in good shape but I cannot leave Louisville because of my situation (sharing custody w/my girls every other week).

I'll tell ya...it's enough to make car sales look good at this point! Seriously....

I had mentioned my unemployment not too long ago, but Im glad to say I have good news. Today was day two of my new job. Its been very tiring and I have almost no time for outside activities at the moment. But its great to be working again. Im willing to possibly setup an "I have no job, please help/I have job openings please work" forum if enough people are interrested. Just say the word and Ill get a beta up possibly this weekend. pm me or reply in the thread if you want it, if not feel free to laugh at me *very* hard the first time I fall asleep on the train and miss my stop

I myself em between jobs in a way. The job that I do have is only 20 hours a week and I am lucky to get 200 every two weeks cleared. So I consider myself unemployed as well.

I thought about going into the IT field but there just isn't work out here like other places. And I don't really have the finances to move.

As of right now, I am about a month behind on payments and creditors are calling already looking to take my truck. I am not happy about it. But I guess I got to do what I got to do. As I am taking my class A test tomorrow and hopefully I can get a job driving truck to at least do something to get caught up.

Good luck to you all as I know what it's like....

nocmonkey congrats on starting at a new job too.

Hate to hear of anyone loosing the roof over their head , too much talent here for that to happen.

I have set up a web site (very basic for now) to keep track of all the job openings for TA'ers

http://www.cjbsystems.com/jobs/AT_Job_Listings.html

If you have any job listings please email me @ jobs@cjbsystems.com .. I'll add them to the site.
Hopefully we can get some folks some jobs.

Mods if we could get a sticky that would be great!

Thanks to dmcowen674 for starting this thread! He and I will be working together on this site to try and help fellow AT'ers find work.

I don't have anything to add to this but a big thanks and great idea to David on starting it.

I guess I shouldn't complain about working unlimited paid overtime and my job when so many really need one.....

Good luck to you all.......

Ditto I'm in the same situtation. I've been trying to find small clients to work for, but they are few an far between. If anyone knows any IT positions in the Bay Area give me a PM please!?

Also for those who live in big metro areas, try CraigsList for more job listings!

A month ago I got a job installing cable internet. It seems to be doing pretty good business in my area.

How close are you to northwest Indiana Evadman? I didn't realize you were so close and we were even unemployed together.
