Seriously, though, I canceled CB on all systems except one P2/300 laptop by lunchtime yesterday. Never recouped the 13Billion loss per Dyyryath's stats. Don't know what happened and no one responded to emails. I do notice that CB reduces FaD rating of CPU.

I think it could be more, as he seem to do alot for CB - maybe his cli's get alot of work? If yes, I suggest still running CB on 2-3 (or maybe 10% of fleet) machines... Then you will still be happy with FaD results, and contributing some nodes to CB

>50% reduction this morning on Celeron 466 w/256MB RAM - from 36 down to 17. Single CB CLI set for 64MB RAM hash (High in conf file). I have 22 cpus in 17 machines (meaning 5 Duallies). PPro200x2, P2/300, P2/333x3, P2/366, C2/466, P3/450x3, P3/667x2, P3/933x2, P3/1.2, P4/2.4x3, P4/2.53x2, XP2500+. Will be adding dual P2/333, dual P2/350 and dual P2/400 soon, but losing one P4/2.4.

If I remember correctly, you ran two instances of the CB client on single processor computers. Is that still true? That would cause more of an impact then just one. Also, 64MB is a lot for a computer with only 256MB of ram (especially if you are running two instances).

Just one instance this morning. Another detail: Win98SE on that system. Nothing else running aside from FaD, so RAM usage isn't maxed.

With the 4GB RAM it has, I could run 32 instances, each set to MAX ram. I imagine the numbers would be impressive. Can anybody loan me four grand to purchase this puppy?

BCinSC, sometimes setting it to Max RAM usage causes more problems than it solves, maybe try Low or Mid memory usage?

You set yourself up a peernode monitor to keep an eye on them yet??

Why does MAX ram cause problems? I usually run High (64MB) or Low (16MB) depending on machine.

I don't mind having 30 odd clients listed if you want Or, you can download the perl file and run it yourself if you so wish also


I'm not sure exactly why it causes some problems, or exactly what they are, but i'm sure i remember reading that some clients hang/have problems with setting the RAM usage to Max I normally just use Low or Normal
