Tech Brands You Stay Loyal To For Odd Reasons?

I have no brand loyalties. I do, occasionally, harbor brand disloyalties. If a brand does something to annoy me, I'll go out of my way to avoid them for a long time.

Yep. Easier to earn my hate than my love. I generally try to stay away from generically named chinese brands that are basically cheap ripoffs of another item. I see a lot of these on amazon nowadays and it annoys me.

Regarding loyalty, I won't buy a Panasonic item if there is another clearly superior product, I will usually lean their direction if there is any hesitation.

Only Apple. Android is fine, just prefer Apple because wife can't install nearly as much malware, and if I have an iPhone, I can always sort out her messes since I'm familiar with it.

I guess this falls under performance, but I wired a Lacie external 20GB USB powered drive to my Blaupunkt Memphis in my van at least ten years ago, and it has survived baking in the southern California sun at super high temps. It's still going strong.

Built my first Intel based machine last year (though I've had numerous Intel laptops). I am loyal when it comes to AMD graphics though currently:

R9 270 2 GB GDDR5 (current)

However, I have had a couple Nvidia graphics cards and numerous mobile Geforce products:

8800GTS 320 MB GDDR3 (my first rig)
9800M GS 512 MB GDDR3
310M 256 MB GDDR3
GTX 460 1 GB GDDR5
GT 425M 1 GB DDR3

I miss the days of separate Nvidia "core" and shader clock domains.

All the brands I ever felt like I should be loyal to went out of business or changed directions. (PowerVR just makes cell phone GPUs, Hercules used to sell PowerVR GPUs, but now they just sell DJ equipment. Saturn went out of business. The list goes on...)

I've been buying AMD GPUs for a while now mostly because I've become familiar with their lineup and naming conventions, so I know at a glance which GPU is supposed to be faster than which other GPU. That's definitely not a great way to go about things because for a while I had been mostly assuming performance parity between AMD and nvidia.

I've gotten my head out of the sand a bit lately and Nvidia's performance/watt lead and things like physx has me thinking about finally changing it up though. Every time a game comes along that uses tressfx or the like I always wonder what a high end nvidia GPU would be running like.

I bought an xbox one instead of a PS4 for the Halo franchise, though I don't think that's that weird.

Firaxis for the Civilization series games. I know there are now some competitor products which are doubtless just as fun to play and honestly the series peaked IMHO with Civ 4, but I know damn well when Civ 6 comes out I'm going to plunk down the $40 for it.

For me I have to say I'll always buy EVGA if I'm buying an nvidia card.

What a coincidence, that's the only brand I avoid when buying NVIDIA.

Most of my Seagates have died too. Some last up to 3 years, but thats the record.

My only experience with Seagate has been bad... and it wasn't because of the drive. The SATA controller on my POS mobo was defective. Ended up getting a WD, been getting WD since. My WD Green is like 6 years old and still kicking as a back-up drive now.

Yup. My WD Black and Green are going on 7 years at this point. I've started moving stuff to the cloud just in case now.

Vizio, cheap. Good for the money.
Canon cameras, their lenses are full of win.
Lacrosse. They make neat stuff.

Panasonic TVs - So sad to see the Plasmas go. I also have a Panasonic projector. At work I've got a couple of Panny HD studio cameras as well.

Canon - couple of 5D Mark iiis, 7D, C300, c100, and a bunch of L and prime lenses.

Trucks - F150. Although I don't own one right now, I've owned a few in the past and love the F150. Miss my SVT Lightning!

Intel - running Nucs on each TV in the house. Home Win Server is Intel based. Wife and kids laptops are Intel based. MacBook Pro and Mac Pro are Intel based.

Denon/Marantz - it's all I've ever owned and love them. Never had a single issue. Made the mistake of buying my mom and Onkyo and it died within six months. Never again!

DIYSoundGroup - converted from Klipsch Reference line to all DIYSG. Love the speakers and building them myself. Sound quality is on part with speakers thousand of dollars more expensive.

ESP Guitars - I have 8 right now, lol

I buy AMD video cards for the dollar/performance they offer and I want them to continue to be in business.

However, Samsung is a brand I tend to avoid, I had a DLP tv that had tons of problems, and also some friends of mine also had LCD tv's that had similar issues.

that's how they earned the nick "Seize-gate" LOL. Also with SSD drives priced so low why would anyone bother with a disk-based system these days?.

I'd have to say Gigabyte. Still running a fossil socket 775 board from 2008, not a single issue, dead port, nothing. Plus their support page is very comprehensive and is easy to use.
