Although last night I 'got mine' tonight it doesn't show up in my subscriptions, the downloads and key links are greyed out and trying to re-enter the activation produces an error.

So I'd say grab what you can while you can cuz if you haven't been disabled, you will be.

Meanwhile I'm gearing up for a fight with MS tomorrow on the phone.
I might not win but I'll give em hell trying can't loose nothing since that's what I got at the moment.

Seriously, you're going to fight them over something you didn't deserve or pay for in the first place?

This wasn't a pirated/hacked/illegal deal. It was a legitimate offer from MS.

If he took them up on the offer and then MS pulls the plug, well, isn't that kind of a sh***y deal?

No, it was a legitimate offer to those in the UK that were sent an email link to a SURVEY that they had to complete to qualify. If you qualified based on your survey answers you got to the page where you signed up paying $0.00.

For whatever reason you could link directly to this $0.00 payment page, skipping the survey, which is what everyone did. Saying this was a "legitimate" way to get this is pretty much untrue.

Sure, it's MS' fault for being retarded and allowing people to link directly to this buy page, but don't try to think you deserve anything from it.

Yes I will fight for it.

Their own process defines a response w/in 48 hours via email but EPIC FAIL on that they didn't so Monday I'll get on the phone with them.

I did not knowingly do anything improper.
That whole bit about UK and survey means nothing to me.
I got a link it said $0.00 I signed up.

End of Story
I have a valid order number, and a receipt and communications from MS welcoming me to TechNet.

I feel I have a legitimate cause here.

I figure at the least they might offer me a subscription at a substantial discount which DUH is what I was trying to achieve in the first place.

You never know unless you ask, and I''m askin'

You obviously missed the part about how Microsoft/the survey company could end the promotion at any time without reason.

Sigh dude you know so much more then me I concede.

Maybe you didn't realize the part were I already had accessed the account, the promotion wasn't ended before I signed up and I'm griping about that, I had a fully valid account that could use all the services; the account was invalidated AFTER the fact with no communication or explanation.

This was not a promotion, giveaway, contest or anything of the sort. You keep trying to justify this and there is simply nothing you can say to convince anyone otherwise that you deserve anything out of this.

And by the way, if you took the survey, which was the whole reason behind the free year to Technet, you'd be on the Microsoft ITAC website which states:

Thank you all for your wonderful interest and energy around the TechNet Plus Pilot Study. We have halted recruiting for the TechNet Plus pilot program after having reached our quotas for all intended markets. Unfortunately, one of the study participants posted the TechNet Plus registration link on a public blog in direct violation of the terms and conditions agreed to at the start of the study and for membership in ITAC.

The TechNet Plus links have been deactivated. The TechNet Plus site is currently offline for study participants while we mitigate the issues resulting from this situation. Please bear with us.

recieved an email today about it -

TechNet Plus subscription deactivation

Dear Harry,

Microsoft contracted with us, Intrepid Consultants, Inc, to conduct the TechNet Plus Pilot Study program research and manage the activities of the pilot study. Our records show that you have recently signed up for a free TechNet Plus subscription through a registration link that was made available without authorization on a public blog.

The registration link is part of a proprietary study and the party that shared the information was in violation of the terms and conditions to which they agreed to participate in the study. Membership to the Pilot study is limited and all members of the program are required to first meet survey requirements and then complete tasks and assignments over a two month period in order to qualify for and have access to the free TechNet Plus subscription. Since this was a privately conducted pilot study, at no time was it ever intended that a free TechNet Plus registration link would appear on a public internet site, which was done in violation of the terms to which participants agreed upon registering to participate in the pilot study.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but for this reason, we have deactivated your subscription, as well as all other subscriptions resulting from the unauthorized publication of the TechNet Plus Pilot Study program registration link on a public blog. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Kind regards,

The Intrepid Consultants Team
