Ted Nugent caught baiting in California hunt

Marysville, Calif. -- Rocker and celebrity hunter Ted Nugent will have to pay a $1,750 fine after pleading no contest in California to baiting a deer and not having a properly signed hunting tag.
California Department of Fish and Game spokesman Patrick Foy says game wardens saw Nugent kill an immature buck on a February episode of his Outdoor Channel TV show "Spirit of the Wild."
Investigators found the deer had been eating bait called "C'mere Deer." Baiting wildlife is illegal in California.





Nugent originally faced 11 charges, including killing a deer too young to be hunted. In a deal with Yuba County prosecutors, Nugent's attorney on Friday entered no contest pleas to the two misdemeanors.
Nugent did not appear in court. A spokeswoman for the musician did not immediately return messages late Tuesday.

shrug. i don't have any doubt that he has done it before. i also don't doubt he ate the deer.

I gotta admit i have done it when on private property. 1 good deer will give me enough meat for a a few months.

when hunting on Fed/state land no way would i do it.

Around here the deer bait section at Walmart is almost the same size as the pet food isle

Nugent doesn't hunt for sport AFAIK, he eats everything he kills.

At least, that's the way it is when he's at home.

He does it on the road too. They had a radio interview with him here locally and on his concert tours, they have huge BBQ's before and after his shows.

PETA has nothing to do with the Department of Fish and Game. There are rules in every state for hunting and Ted Nugent violated those rules.

It's illegal to bait deer in most (if not all) of the western states.

I'm glad they caught the poaching prick...but of course, as usual with "stars" he gets off with a slap on the wrist.

If any of us would have been caught doing the same thing, we'd be looking at jail time and forfeiture of whatever vehicle we were using at the time, of the weapon(s) we had in our possession at the time...and some SERIOUS fines.

Nah! Hunting out of a deer stand infront of a feeder is roughing it!

The lazy/wealthy big game hunters pick their deer out of a color brochure, then are chauffered to the 10ft cyclone fence enclosure in an air conditioned hummer where they shoot their choosen deer from the hummer then return immediately to the lodge and sip on thier favorite beverage and
wait for the processed and packaged meat and the trophy mount to be delivered to them.
