Nugent wasn't actually "baiting" them, but still what he did may be considered illegal in some states.

Here is the difference between using something to "bait" deer versus using an "attractant".

Q: Is it legal to use C'Mere Deer in my state?

A: C'Mere Deer is classified and manufactured as a DEER ATTRACTANT; making it unique in the hunting industry. However, some states' game laws may prohibit the use of an attractant. We encourage each individual to know their local and state game laws to ensure if it is legal to use C'Mere Deer products where he or she desires to hunt or apply it. Some states allow the use of C'Mere Deer liquid where baiting is not allowed since the liquid is not considered a food source. If in doubt, we advise you to contact your state and/or local Wildlife or Conservation Department for legal advice.

C'Mere Deer can be used in some states that do not allow hunting over bait with certain restrictions such as; all bait must be removed within 10 days of hunting over the baited area or hunter must hunt a certain amount of yards from bait, etc…

haha, you so funny

actually, this product doesn't disgust me near as much as the guys who use actual DEER URINE on themselves and around themselves to attract bucks.

I wonder if that's illegal in some states...

wait a minute...

i can understand being fined for killing a deer that's too young... however, being fined for using bait to kill an animal? are you kidding? you don't think native americans ever used bait when hunting? i mean, christ, that's hunting! setting up bait and traps and stalking in order to kill your prey = hunting.

animals bait other animals all the time... there are various spiders that do it, snapping turtles have worm-like tongues that they use to bait fish closer, etc...

i'm no ted nugent fan and i'm not big on some of his politics/agendas, but this i disagree with him getting fined for using bait to hunt an animal.

Baiting ain't hunting...it doesn't matter what the Native American Indians used to do...it doesn't matter what various animals do...it's illegal to bait game animals in most states.

i guess it's not in kentucky because whenever i got my hunting license there wasn't a law against it, iirc.

That's cheating!, like fishing with dynamite..I've got not one issue with hunting, just eat what you shoot, killing just for the thrill of killing is kinda sad IMO..

this.

hunting should also be limited to big knives and bows and arrows...or at least arm the animals in some way.

would make things more interesting, imo.

People sit in deer stands near dear feeders all the time in Louisiana. I used to hunt when I was younger but just always found it very very boring to sit in a stand.

You cannot bait in any wildlife management areas or military bases in kentucky iirc. Private land no problem, except no baiting of turkey period - iirc.

edit - yup, no baiting at all on any public lands.
12. A person shall not distribute or place bait, hunt over bait or otherwise participate in baiting wildlife on a wildlife management area.

lol: "celebrity hunter."

fo real?

He is a celebrity, who has a show dedicated to hunting. Is "celebrity hunter" really a stretch?

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if most hunting shows use bait/attractant/whatever. It's one thing to go out by yourself and wait patiently for a deer to come by, another to have an entire production crew sitting around.

oh god i hate that. a buddy of mine would pretty much bathe in the damn stuff. i wouldn't let him back in the vehicle so he had to take his escort heh.

Im not against baiting as i am against "sport" hunting, over killing, and poaching. If you are going to hunt kill in season and eat what you kill.

A friend of my dads (would hunt on his property) would put feed and salt licks in spots all summer so they got used to those spots. he would stay out of the area as much as possible.

then in hunting season we would put up stands and deer would always walk near.

I doubt it. Deer urine is used to mask human scent...not to attract deer.

That's pretty much my stance. Baiting is weak, and takes all the sport out of it, but if you're doing it to get meat for your freezer, then so what? It's no worse than cattle to the slaughterhouse. Just don't delude yourself that you're any kind of sportsman.

90% of the hunters i know are not true sportsman then.

they sit in tree stand along known trails and just wait for the deer to go eat.

i know a few guys that do track them. but on federal/state parks that is limited.

Okay, this point of view I could agree with.

Hunting is usually legal in state/federal forests and BLM land, but almost never in state/federal parks.

Out west, I don't think anyone uses tree stands for deer hunting. Everyone walks around...hunting for the deer.

(unfortunately, too many of them walk around half-drunk while carrying the rifle...)

PETA has nothing to do with the Department of Fish and Game. There are rules in every state for hunting and Ted Nugent violated those rules.

This 100% and Ted knew it. He pretty much does whateverthefuck he wants. Happy he finally got caught. Follow the rules old man, follow the rules.
