And back on topic, this kid is a complete fool for doing this glaringly obvious publicity stunt without asking for permission to bring it to school to show it off in the first place. You don't just casually cart around unknown electronic parts to school in a briefcase for no reason. Was there a science fair or was it required for some reason? No, it clearly was not.

And what many of you who are making excuses for his idiotic behaviour completely fail to realize is the main reason he got in trouble was not because of his skin color, but because they were sending a message that it's not OK to bring a briefcase full of unknown electronics to school without permission to do so. Everything you do in public school that is out of the ordinary REQUIRES PERMISSION FIRST. And only an idiot would even think otherwise.

Speaking of fools/idiots, how could the plan have worked if he had asked permission?

Obviously. If by "plan" you mean the undeserved media attention heaped on him for being an idiot in the first place. Otherwise, nobody would even care he built (rebuilt) a clock. When I was 14 I took apart several ancient console tube TVs and stereos and serviced them (including repairing wiring, switches and other electrical parts) and put them back together again and got them working. But never even ONCE did I even consider dragging one to school just to show off how much of an electronic genius I thought I was.

Dang, now I feel backward. At fourteen I was still celebrating getting color TV, central HVAC, AND an indoor bathroom all at once. I seem to be the only one here who never fooled with electrical gadgets as a teen. Not that we really HAD any electrical gadgets I could have fooled with without a good whipping and being grounded, but still.

More like thicksnake. haahahhaha

So you are just trolling along then, huh? BTW, what is your native language? Because you seem to be an English grammar expert now. I simply didn't realize what incredibly high standards I had to aspire to in order to post here.

And that was also posted on my phone while I was taking a dump, which is probably why it was a bit awkwardly worded, but I bet it was still understandable to the other 99.9% of English users out there who aren't serial form trolls, just saying.

But by all means, please keep me on my grammar toes next time while taking a dump. And the next time I take a dump, I will be thinking about you.

Well you're going to want to be grounded to protect sensitive ICs.

LOL, I thought you were about to say that there were no electronic gadgets when you were a kid, like you were doing arithmetic on an abacus. Good to know you aren't quite that decrepit.

When I was a freshman in high school, I completely dismantled a lawnmower, cleaned all the parts and put it back together again. Unfortunately the end result didn't run.

Interesting, the kid's family is now apparently moving to Qatar. This kid has his pick of any school in the US, but I guess the schools there must be better than the best schools here.

And here's a picture of him grinning ear to ear while posing with a brutal Sudanese dictator. :hmm:

Quatar
According to the US State Department, expatriate workers from nations throughout Asia and parts of Africa are routinely subjected to forced labor and, in some instances, prostitution. Most of these people voluntarily migrate to Qatar as low-skilled laborers or domestic servants, but are subsequently subjected to conditions indicative of involuntary servitude. Some of the more common labor rights violations include beatings, withholding of payment, charging workers for benefits which are nominally the responsibility of the amir, severe restrictions on freedom of movement (such as the confiscation of passports, travel documents, or exit permits), arbitrary detention, threats of legal action, and sexual assault. Many migrant workers arriving for work in Qatar have paid exorbitant fees to recruiters in their home countries.

As of 2014, certain provisions of the Qatari Criminal Code allows punishments such as flogging and stoning to be imposed as criminal sanctions. The UN Committee Against Torture found that these practices constituted a breach of the obligations imposed by the UN Convention Against Torture
Peace be upon Ahmed in his new home country...

From Wiki:
Sharia law is the main source of Qatari legislation according to Qatar's Constitution

Sharia law is widely supported by the majority of muslims in all the middle eastern countries. Until they figure out that the intrusion of their religion into politics is the main reason they lag far behind the Western, they are doomed to remain as they are.

ULTIMATELY, the struggle of the fundamentalists is against two enemies, secularism and modernism. The war against secularism is conscious and explicit, and there is by now a whole literature denouncing secularism as an evil neo-pagan force in the modern world and attributing it variously to the Jews, the West, and the United States. The war against modernity is for the most part neither conscious nor explicit, and is directed against the whole process of change that has taken place in the Islamic world in the past century or more and has transformed the political, economic, social, and even cultural structures of Muslim countries. Islamic fundamentalism has given an aim and a form to the otherwise aimless and formless resentment and anger of the Muslim masses at the forces that have devalued their traditional values and loyalties and, in the final analysis, robbed them of their beliefs, their aspirations, their dignity, and to an increasing extent even their livelihood.

Well, now he doesn't have to hurry up and learn anything about electronics (besides how to take them out of their casing) before getting called out by one of those universities.
