had a party house as a senior in hs. (mid 80's)
and we had the party list wich consisted of 12 notebook sheets with 3 collums of phone numbers on the front and back of each sheet.
the 3 of us would decide that it was a party night and get the list out and start calling. usually went through3 or 4 kegs and several hundred people by the time the party was over. you would never get away with it these days though. can you say bigtime bust?

Because my best friend was killed after attending one of these "innocent" parties in 10th grade. He drank too much and vomited while my other friends layed there too drunk to realize that he was choking... he died... and he'll never come back. That is why I called the cops on you losers! SO f%CK off! :|

EDIT: Ohhh btw, it was the parents of the kids house that gave them the beer (and Whiskey)... they were never arrested. Never held accountable for their actions. THey got off scott free for killing my friend. Yes it was his decision to drink, but if it hadn't been shoved down his throat by the other kids there, he would be alive today. Drinking can kill you... and kills thousands of kids each year.

ok, not to take your friend's death lightly, but because HE was irresponsible and couldn't take care of himself, no one is?

So you are going to blame other people who don't even know your friend for his death? You aren't going to blame him for drinking too much? Get help ok? You can fvck off as well.

It would have made a lot more sense for you to mention that earlier.

Because high schoolers are largely not mature enough to make wise decisions. That's why you're not legally independent until you're 18.

It seems like a bad incident has clouded your vision. Just because your friend and the people he was with was irresponsible, doesn't automatically mean everyone is. I am sorry for your loss but taking it out on everyone else is ignorant and petty.

At the parties we run, at least 3 out of the 5 people in the house isn't allowed to touch alcohol. 1 person watches the upstairs, 1 person the downstairs, and 1 person roams the house. The sober people cut off people who appear to be drinking too much, and take care of anyone who is puking. The above incident would never happen at my house.

Oh come on guys, none of you have ever passed out from drinking too much? I don't drink, but that seems like a pretty common occurance here in college, and high schoolers have less of a sense of self-awareness and responsibility, by and large. People who *know* how to drink responsibly don't always do it, especially teens.

Well in some states it is 19 to be an adult but that is not really relevant here. Regardless of age limits people are going to drink, and it is their fault if they are not responsible. Sorry.

Justify it all you want guys... getting drunk is irresponsible and more often than not leads to bad things. There is a reason it's illegal to drink if you are under 21.

I was the kind of kid to toilet paper and egg your house while you sat at home without any friends...then I'd laugh as soon as it started raining.

There is no such thing as personal responsibility when you mix teenagers and alcohol.

I have issue with that. Take in context of driving. We have laws because otherwise people are too-frequently NOT responsible when they're drinking. If we create laws to protect others against irresponsible drinkers, and create laws to protect minors from drinking irresponsibly, why shouldn't those laws be enforced?

my friend's parents have parties all the time so it becomes one big party when we get our friends over there(his parents make sure everyone's invited) and we even have 2 cops(his neighbours) for when we do stuff like set off fireworks at 1am piss drunk. One of them even comes down and does drinking games with us not all cops suck

oh, and at these parties most people are from the neighbourhood so everyone just walks home, but those of us who drive leave our keys upstairs in a cookie jar and we crash there. That's the only condition his parents have, is that when soemone has a drink the keys stay upstairs. works well and everyone's responsible

Yep, I had one. 250 people or so.

not everyone who drinks is going to die from it. More often than not it leads to bad things? Nothing bad has happened to me yet....looks like your statistics are a little off.

I wouldn't call it a common occurance but it happens to most people at one time or another. There is, however, a distinct difference in being sick from drinking and choking to death on your own vomit. You have to be above and beyond drunk for that to happen. You would have to do something less than rational such as eating 30 jello shots, or slamming shots constantly. I have been sick from drinking too much only a handful of times in my life. One was this past weekend and before that it was back around September of last year. It normally happens 1-2 a year to me and NEVER have I been to drunk to take appropriate care of myself. I have never had to rely on someone else to make sure that I was going to make it to my next breath.

I live (and work) in a residence hall with balconies, on a college campus (duh). There are times where I'm busting a party, and I'll feel a twinge of guilt... then I think about it. If someone falls off a balcony, we're held responsible for it. Not the resident, not the people who supplied the alcohol, not his parents, we are. The RA's, Residential Life staff, etc, are held responsible for enforcing state and federal alcohol laws, and we do - people don't realize exactly how much of an effect alcohol can have on your judgement.

I have to agree with Jugernot to an extent on this one. There are some laws that are made not only for one's personal safety, but also for the well-being and safety of others.

Got sick twice (my birthday and one other occasion) but never passed out.

The big rage in my hometown was camp parties. About 30 minutes out of town, big place, you could make all the noise you wanted. And if the cops were called, the guy with the police scanner picked up the tip 30 minutes in advance - plenty of time for everyone to scatter.
