It's not that blacks have to work harder, it's that I understand a smaller percentage of blacks will be the type of people I want to associate with due to demographic realities.

And because I set my expectations by reality I'm not set up for shock and disappointment when my results line up with that reality.

When assessing a new acquaintance for possible friendship I look for exactly the same mannerisms, interests, speech patterns, values, etc regardless of their race.

The fact that whites and Asians check off those boxes more frequently than do blacks and that I acknowledge that trend doesn't mean I am applying a different standard or that I hate anyone.

This attitude manifests itself in assessing a story like this in my greater ability to consider Dunn's account possible.

Yes. Here you go..hes laying it all on the table right now, he applies racial bias when certain scenarios are met. Black Teens + Tinted Windows + Music = Trouble. Also, check the bullshit I highlighted in his post too. Not only is he applying racial bias..but he is making the assertion that this scenario is more likely to involve black males and not say...a group of Asia teens. Because we all know, only black male teens have cars with tinted windows (and why does tinted matter?) and who listen to "rap" (its obviously implied here) music.

The criteria he laid out is pretty much me and anyone who has ever been in my car (on the weekends though ). So that means, if I get into a disagreement/argument/shouting match with some asshole at a gas station and he shoots me..it means I was more likely to be dangerous because I fit into Geo's profile.

You can go ahead and read the rest of his rants..they all pretty much come to the same conclusion.

By no means am I taking what Dunn says as gospel.

I'm just assessing this from both perspectives.

When it comes to what he claims, that they threatened his life, and dropped a lot of "man fuck this bitch kill this fool" type stuff, I look at what we know so far and I assess whether that sounds AT ALL believable.

Fact is, there are a few things which do make what he describes easier to believe.

- Teens
- 4 of them
- Tinted windows
- Blasting music super loud
- Black

The only thing I need to get you to concede in order to prove that these DO in fact make what he describes more likely, is that if it were a car with untinted windows and 4 asian girls who were listening to classical and just came from the chess tournament... would it be harder to believe what he describes was a possibility?

C'mon now.

I'm not saying it makes his story true, just more likely to be.

I'd also like to address the guilty by association thing. Nobody knows how good of friends they were, and if all were actually "friends." In high school I couldn't count the number of times I was in a car with multiple people where I was good friends with some and really didn't know the others well at all. Without knowing I'm 100% positive at least 1 of these people I wasn't "friends" with had been to Juvie or YA (youth authority) or was just involved with some shady shit in general. And I had absolutely no fucking idea because as a 17 year old you don't grill people before you get in a car with the. Breaking into a car is a petty crime, you cannot use that as a basis to say "That means he had to be a violent person who definitely threatened poor Dunn!" Pass records? In high school I knew plenty of people who broke into cars, but never started trouble with others. And I knew plenty who carried guns that wouldn't steal shit. The one here who had broke in and stole some speakers was no more of a thug than a stripper is a porn star.
