Avoiding the question, that's cool.
Ignore the facts and continue to backpeddle... that's also cool.

I answered your question. Its very obvious that you don't understand what is being asked in the OP.
He asked about the Downtown area, that is what we are talking about.

Instead of being a jerk, you could have quickly done some research, her neighborhood was listed in the article. Its so easy to just look up a damn address.
I'm pretty sure you were the one who said you thought it was funny because I said my Great Aunt got shot in Detroit after I said my Grandmother, who lives Downtown is in one of the safest areas of Detroit.
Yea, she got shot...in a neighborhood that is a while outside of Detroit. Would she have gotten shot had she lived in a loft Downtown?...probably not. That was the point of my comment.
So, you already know the answer to your question. I am sure people who have been to Detroit know what and where Downtown is and what and where is not Downtown. Nobody is trying to be hostile, but there are a few trolls in this thread who obviously don't know anything about Detroit.

That's answering HIS question, not mine. That's cool.
I understand completely what's being asked in the OP.
I am pretty sure that west is the one direction that Canada isn't from Detroit*Glances to the west* Canadians!
Anyone ever been to the Bucharest Grill? Its down that street that looks straight out at Comerica Park.
Get the Chicken Shawarma wrap. You won't be sorry. If you're feeling hungry, you can get a 6 pack for $25.

Midtown/Wayne State and the downtown are relatively safe. Both areas have a lot of foot traffic during the day. A good portion of the downtown gets quiet after business hours. However, there are areas that are hopping at all times of the evening.i'm looking for internships for the summer. One that responded is quicken loans, located in detroit downtown.. 2 miles from wayne state university (whom apparently they have an agreement with to house interns during the summer. I need to talk to the company to find out if that housing is comped or if i have to pay for it.) basically 2 miles strait down
one thing i'm worried about is crime. My 5 minutes on google won't give me numbers for actual crime rates in the area. my experience in los angeles says stay out of certain areas, and don't go out at night without purpose and you'll be fine. but I don't know detroit, so i don't know those areas.
Anyone have any experience or can link any crime statistics that might be helpful?
overall's are easy to find, but block by block isn't so. :/
lol... i go to bed when the thread postcount is at 12... i wake up, it's at 58...
i think "must be full of new useful information!"
hah.
Anyways, thanks for the info. So downtown Detroit isn't so bad. I still can't seem to find crime stats for that specific region relative to others. a nice colored map of detroit with crime densities would be awesome.
To the people that asked about specific things,
i'm not really a live music person. Though a temp move to a big city would be a good opportunity to push me out of my comfort zone and find new hobbies and pasttimes. i don't like jazz, tho :/
i do love food. greek is good. question: How is availability of mexican food?

I actually went there for the first time last week. It was indeed tasty. There's also a Cuban place a couple blocks from there that's fantastic.
Also, if your Grandmother is in Corktown, that means she's near Slow's, which is well worth the 90 minute drive I now must make to get there. (I live in Lansing now)
