HP and Kodak all the way!

BTW Canadian Hot Deals? LOL

Do you have a U.S. friend who can order it for you?

What are you looking for? Lots of zoom? Manual controls? Compact size? Something really cheap? Any specific memory format?

Kodaks? doesn't all of Kodak's DC has propietary docks for transferring data back to the PC? You can't even use USB cable to do that.

Mine (See sig)

3MP, 8x optical zoom!

If you want something not as good , I'd say buy a Canon A80. And don't rule out Kodaks--they take beautiful pictures, subject of photo notwithstanding.

eakers - We need sully because he's a photography-taking-Canadian-Ferengi (other than N8Magic who unfortunately has a real life now and has forgotten about us lost and lonely souls).

If I was buying right now I'd get the Canon s500.
I own the s230( 3.2 mp 2x zoom), have had it for a year and a half and I love it, small, sturdy and a great movie mode. The s500 is the same size maybe even smaller with 5mp and 3x optical zoom.

edit: it is about 450 american though

He's being sarcastic. It is a well known fact that RossMAN is a big Canon fan and dislikes Kodak and HP a great deal.

But no, you don't have to use the dock. It is optional. You can use USB just like any other camera. The dock is convenient for some people because all you have to do is put the camera in, press one button, and it will transfer all the pictures and recharge the camera batteries. It's really an ease of use feature, which is Kodak's main selling point. I have to say though that the latest generation of Kodak cameras have been getting some pretty good reviews. They are using higher quality Kreuznach lenses on many of them, including 4x optical zoom, and seem to have made improvements in many areas. They are also some of the most affordable digicams and definitely some of the easiest to use.

I have a Canon S45 and I've been very happy with it. Although now I kind of wish I had bought an A80 instead. The flip out LCD and the ability to add lenses would have been nice.

EDIT: Kodaks tend to oversaturate the colors. This is a common complaint from some people. But it is also something the average point and shoot consumer likes. Some people like the richer than life colors while others complain that it is not accurate to the actual colors of the subject. Kodak also does this kind of color enhancement when developing photographic film. (It may be optional).

None, its called sarcasm.

Yes, it was sarcasm, but to answer your question, the 6000 series has gotten pretty good reviews. I almost bought a DX 6440 but opted for the Canon S45 instead.

In that price range I would probably pick this myself.

Agreed.

Here is a nice review and it can be had for $254.99 with free shipping courtesy of Amazon.com

If you can find it on Dell, Overstock, OM, OD, or Staples you might be able to get it cheaper after coupons.
