Tell me, which POWER SUPPLY is the better choice at Newegg?

I know that nothing can beat that 550 watt baby there, but tell me which is better of the two Enermax 431watt power supplies?

Note: This will be for my AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz Thunderbird. Is that the same as AMD K7 in which it says it's compatable with?

Please tell me what's my best choice here, thanx

If you're picky about noise, the more expensive of the two PSUs has a thermal-controlled fan, which operates at different speeds for different temps. Supposedly it is quieter than the normal PSU. Both will output the same amount of power.

I own an Enermax 550 whisper and I cannot hear it @ all. Works great, lots of power to spare...

Enermax 550 whisper? The one at newegg above doesn't say "whisper", so would that not be the same one? If not, what good website can I buy the "550 whisper" from? Plz provide direct link.

I bought the 431 Watt Enermax ($86 FC model with MB fan control) and the box says "Whisper" on it.

The 550W looks like it is not an FC model. I would assume it's still relatively quiet though.

I just got it a couple of days ago and plan to install it this weekend. I also got a quite case fan to bring cool air into my case.

Hopefully, my computer will be nice and quiet after these upgrades (as well as more stable)!

I bought the Enermax 550W from NewEgg. I don't know if it is the "whisper" or not, but it sure isn't very loud whatever it is. Sometimes I check it just to make sure the fans on it are actually turning. It drives my 1.4 Tbird and everything else in my system without any apparent problems.

All Enermax PSus are pretty quiet.
I have a 431watt non-FC model and it's still pretty damn quiet.

But the FC model is quieter.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. My nonFC 350W "whisper" is by far the loudest things in my case, now that I put an 80mm fan on the processor. It pumps ALOT of hot air out the back, so its worth it I guess.
