Do you have a set schedule?

set-ish... no one really cares if I'm late within an hour or two.

What hours/days do you normally work?

8:30 am - 6:30 pm, Tues-Fri

Do you like your current schedule?

more or less... I'd probably rather work something like 10 am - 8 pm, but my BF wouldn't be happy with that.

Do you travel for work?

not far. we have an office in South Jersey that I travel to maybe once/month (it's about 60-75 minutes away, as opposed to my usual 30-40 minute commute)

Ever on call?

yup, 24/7 except when on vacation (as a trade off, my company pays for my cellphone bill and I'm OT-eligible if the call escalates into anything other than a brief conversation... usually end up with about $6-7k/year in OT)

Ever work from home?

as needed... they don't like us to work from home, but my boss would rather I work remote if the alternative is having to call out.

Ever get called in?

physically into the office? it's happened twice in the ten years I've been working here, both under near-catastrophic circumstances (eg: our data center lost power and the generators are fried; all personnel within driving distance of the office were called to come in and help out even if the help was outside of their job description. I'm a storage admin, but that day I was answering tier 1 tech support calls and running around the data center with a crash cart troubleshooting servers that weren't booting up once power was restored)

What would your perfect schedule be?

I'd love to keep my hours but work Monday-Thurs instead of Tues-Fri... would net me another couple thousand in OT since I'd have preference for working any Monday holidays. would also love to have it approved to work from home 1-2 days/week on a regular basis (if not full-time remote) without me needing to justify it to my boss every time I want to work from home.

Not sure right now since things are in a bit of flux. My wife is still on maternity leave so I can't say what would be ideal once she goes back to work.

Set schedule: more or less I'm 8-5. I'm salary so my schedule can flex and I can come in early and leave a bit early or pull a bit later time range. As long as the work gets done its not entirely set. Do have an erp system I have to support during the day though.

Hours/Days: generally 8-5 M-F.

I do like my current schedule. It's not very strict as long as everything gets done and performance is good.

Travel: I do on occasion. About once a month for the first half of the year then a couple times the second. I do some training for our erp system.

On call: only for system outages once a month. I'm the senior level guy on our team so I'm always escalation for the other guys. So in a sense always.

Work from home: couple days a month. Have the ability to every day but appearances are everything. Plus I support an erp system and its sometimes easier to be in the office.

Called in: never been called in per se, but had to go to our data center on off hours to fix hardware failures.

Perfect schedule: in office 2-3 days and work from home the other half of the week. I'm getting my own office today so I may prefer to be at work a bit more now that I have my own space

Mostly set schedule. 7:30-4:00'ish. I car pool with my wife 3-4 days a week.

Travel: Very little. But I do a ton of walking while on site.

On Call: Uhg. Every three weeks I'm call. And it's a horrible call schedule. Frequently get at least one call a night and multiple on a weekend. I can plan to do nothing during call weeks. The call schedule is the primary reason I am looking at other jobs. I lose a third of my life with the stupid cell phone anchored to my hip just waiting to go off. I don't get paid for that time, it's just part of my salary.

Work from home: Sort of. It's not an official work from home policy. Although our manager is cool with us working from home on school closures, if we have utility work needing to be done to our home, or if we have a pile of project work and need to escape from being bothered at our offices. It's not a set schedule or supported by our division.

Called in: Most of my on call stuff can be done remotely. A few times I'll need to access the datacenter but it's very rare.

There's no such thing as a perfect schedule. I'd love to have a job that was something like 10:30-7:00. But that cuts into family time. As it is, my schedule right now fits best with kids schools and day care scheduling as well as with my wife's schedules.

Somewhat, it's flexible salary position, but if I'm out of office between 9:30 and 4 I need to set an OoO notification.

M-F 9am-6:30~7pm; Sat/Sun maybe 3 or 4 hours when needed to meet deadlines.

Do you like your current schedule?

Haven't needed to so far, but I can be called to the main offices if needed for support.

Ever on call?
There's times where we have to provide weekend support during heavy ramp-up to releases.

Ever work from home?
Occasionally, mostly when I need to be childcare.

Ever get called in?
Haven't yet, but for the rare weekends support is required I could be.
