1996: P133 with a Matrox Mystique 4Mb (my first PC, build this to play Diablo - and later: WarCraft II)

1999: PII 400 with a STB Velocity 4400 TNT 16Mb (for Half Life, Thief, System Shock 2, Homeworld, Baldur's Gate, Torment, etc.)

2001: Upgraded the TNT to a Creative Labs 3D Blaster GeForce2 GTS 32Mb (this is my current system, even though I'm still on a PII 400 it plays Max Payne, RTCW and Dungeon Siege with decent frame rates)

2002: P4 2.0A with a VisionTek GeForce4 Ti 4400 128Mb (the rig I will be building sometime this month...)

~89/90:
Atari 2600
Atari XE
IBM XT with 640k RAM+EGA color graphics
286 12MHz W/1MB RAM+VGA color graphics
I mostly played Commander Kelly and Duke Nukem (the original version, advertising over 1MB of graphics!)
I loved that box, it was solid as a rock and ran like a dream (believe it or not, I actually got videos to run on that sucker!) I squeezed all the life out of it, I could.
I finally boxed it up and put it in storage. I didn't get another computer for a few years.

1998:
Pionex PII-350 96MB of RAM, an 11GB HD, 17" monitor, and Intel i740 8MB AGP graphics.
Boy, was I happy to finally have a current PC! I was able to get decent frame rates on that setup on most games until sometime last year.
Exceptions were Q3 (which was way too dark for some reason) and UT (which would only run in a tiny window.

Late 2001:
Same setup as above, except I upgraded to 160MB of RAM, and bought a ATI Radeon LE 32MB DDR, tweaked & OC'd to retail Radeon 32MB specs.
Wow, what a difference that made in the newer games! I was finally able to run 3DMark2001, and get decent performance on Operation Flashpoint!
That's the setup I'm running right now.

Future (in the next month or two):
Athlon XP (Palomino, possible a TBred) 1800+
Atleast 256MB DDR RAM
Abit NV7-133R nForce 415-D board (most likely)
Maxtor DiamandMax D740X 60GB 7200 RPM HD (maybe the "Quiet Drive" version)
19" monitor
ATI Radeon LE 32MB DDR

I'll upgrade the video card when I find a game I want to play that won't run at acceptable FPS on my current card. That may happen this fall, when Raven Shield comes out.

I'll just stick to my primary system and PC compatibles to keep it short

Whatever is built onto Compaq Deskpro 3/25i (not sure on model) - Intel Overdrive DX2/50
SiS 6326 4MB - Cyrix PR150
SiS 6326 4MB - AMD K6-2/266
Matrox M3D (Power VR2) + SiS 6326 - AMD K6-2/266
Guillemot MaxiGamer 3D2 12MB + SiS 6326 - AMD K6-2/266
Voodoo 3 2000 (OCed almost to 3500TV speed) - AMD K6-2/266
Voodoo 3 2000 (OCed almost to 3500TV speed) - Celeron 400
Voodoo 3 2000 (OCed almost to 3500TV speed) - Celeron 366 @ 550
Voodoo 3 2000 (OCed almost to 3500TV speed) - Celeron 533 @ 952
MSI GF2 32MB (No OC) - Celeron 533 @ 952
MSI GF2 32MB (No OC) - Athlon XP 1500+ @ 1667 MHz

Note that although I despised the SiS 6326 I STILL got rid of the Cyrix first. WTF is with a processor needing a patch just to run a game DEMO??? :|

Wow, never imagined this to grow so big and so quickly! Many thanks to everyone.... it's just interesting as you'll agree, things like this as it'll also spur your own memories (like when my PC died in UT and i thought the O/C V3 2000 had copped it, when it was a system fan!-god, that was one HELL of a heart attack!) Keep Them Coming!!

I wish I could remember 'em all!

You guys are lightweights. I still remember the thrill of a 512K (yes, K, not MB) VESA local bus card. I believe it was a Trident or similiar. Of course, that was ages ago.

In "modern" times, everything from a 1MB Trident to a GF4 Ti4600, with the exception of Matrox. I did play with several of their cards, but never owned one in any of my personal rigs. Perhaps "Parhelia" will entice me, eh?

FWIW, I decided to go with a Seagate Barracuda IV 60GB drive, instead of a Maxtor dive in my new box.
