You'll probably need to edit telnet in /etc/xinetd.d/.

It's actuallly on a college lan that's entirely switched. I don't have to worry about casual users sniffing it.
telnet should be banned. It's amazing that people actually still use it, even on a private LAN. I mean, is there ever such a thing as too much security?

I remember there being some redhat gui thingie to enable/disable services at the various runlevels.
